Gareth Vendet is a Aspiring "Treasure Hunter" who will risk his life to Gareth wishes to amass a vast armada so that he may control the seas; and reap all it's bounties.

He is 27 years old, and often appears as Gareth is an Irish guy with a navy blue overcoat over a blue turtleneck wearing a black beanie and black jeans. He is perpetually carrying around a slung duffel bag, he has a sea-stubble. He wears thick rubber gloves.

Gareth Vendet lives in Maelstrom, a setting where videos of the supernatural go viral every day.

Movement

Movement is taken immediately before OR after your Action. It cannot be split.
You may Free Move (0) feet. Minimum 5 feet.
You may Dash up to an additional (0 feet).
- Dashing penalizes your Action -1 die per 5 feet.
All-out Sprint: instead of using free Movement or Dash, you may spend your Action and roll Brawn + Athletics ( dice) Difficulty 6. You move (0 + (Outcome x 5) Feet).

Actions

Attack with your weapon or hands.
Evade by rolling to Defend or Dodge. Your Outcome is "spent" to reduce the Outcome of any incoming attacks until your next Action.
Activate a Power or use an Ability as normal.
Hold your Action by declaring an Action and a triggering event. If the event occurs before your turn on the next Round, you perform the Action.

If you have not yet spent your Action this Round, you may use it as a Reaction.

Reactions

Dodge by rolling Dexterity + Athletics ( dice) Difficulty 6. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's.
Defend with your weapon by rolling its attack roll. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's. Availability depends on weapon match-up (tap/hover).
Clash with the attacker using the same roll you would use to Defend. The higher Outcome (not contested) is treated as the result of a successful, undefended attack roll against the loser.

Desperate Defense

If you have already used your Action, you may Exert your Mind to perform a Reaction. Your next Round's Action receives a -2 dice penalty. You cannot Clash as a Desperate Defense.

Will to Survive

Once per Contract, you may reduce the severity of an incoming Injury up to 4 Severity levels (to a minimum of Severity 4). You take a point of Mind damage and suffer a Major Battle Scar that lingers after the Injury is healed, even with proper Stabilization.

If an attack's Outcome is positive after defense, it results in a new Injury with Severity = Outcome + Weapon damage - Armor

Proper Stabilization

Requires an advanced first aid kit for Severity 4 Injuries, a field surgery kit for Severity 5 Injuries, and a surgery theater for Severity 6+ Injuries.

Roll Intellect + Medicine, Difficulty equal to Severity

An Outcome of 1 or greater will Stabilize the Injury and stop its degradation.
Complete success (Outcome 4+) puts the Injury on track to heal clean: its Battle Scar heals with it.
Failed attempts can be retried at +1 Difficulty per failure.
On a Botch, the Injury's Severity increases by 1.

Makeshift Stabilization

Attempt a major treatment using insufficient or improvised medical equipment.

Roll Intellect + Medicine, Difficulty > Severity

Any positive Outcome (1+) will Stabilize the Injury and stop its degradation.
However, any Outcome less than 4 increases the Injury’s Severity by 1. Botches also worsen its Battle Scar.
Regardless of Outcome, any Battle Scars caused by the Injury will persist after it is fully healed.
Failed attempts can be retried at +1 Difficulty per failure.

Self-stabilization attempts are rolled at +1 Difficulty.

Biography

Gareth was born in Ireland and moved to the United States when he was just a wee little lad, his earliest memory was seeing the ocean in all it's splendor out the plane-view side-windows and falling in love. Gareth then grows up much like a regular lad; eventaully joining the navy for a few years before retiring out for work as a Fisherman. Gareth enjoys such hobbies such as Angling, Scuba Diving, Youtube, and his most enjoyable hobby; Treasure Hunting.

Gareth in his recent years has become a professional Treasure Hunter, basically he gets paid by rich people to find treasure or go look for treasure, and sometimes even rare fish, and bring it back. His most important find was a golden ruby-eyed skull chain-necklace which he wears proudly, he has found such things such as Treasure Chests with golden coins, Antique weaponry, ETC ETC.

But Gareth has begun to develop a bit of an ambitious streak; hes very annoyed that government officials (Feds) keep trying to stop him from treasure hunting in international waters, and that they keep getting in the way of his finds and hauls; Gareth wishes to amass an armada of fellow "Treasure Hunters" to gatekeep the ocean from those silly fedboys and silly fishermen who would seek to disturb his treasure hunting activities. Gareth wishes to claim all of the ocean's treasure and booty for his own taking, no matter what!
