Actions

Attack with your weapon or hands.
Evade by rolling to Defend or Dodge. Your Outcome is "spent" to reduce the Outcome of any incoming attacks until your next Action.
Activate a Power or use an Ability as normal.
Hold your Action by declaring an Action and a triggering event. If the event occurs before your turn on the next Round, you perform the Action.

Reactions

Dodge by rolling Dexterity + Athletics ( dice) Difficulty 6. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's.
Defend with your weapon by rolling its attack roll. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's. Availability depends on weapon match-up (tap/hover).
Clash with the attacker using the same roll you would use to Defend. The higher Outcome (not contested) is treated as the result of a successful, undefended attack roll against the loser.

Desperate Defense

If you have already used your Action, you may Exert your Mind to perform a Reaction. Your next Round's Action receives a -2 dice penalty. You cannot Clash as a Desperate Defense.

Will to Survive

Once per Contract, you may reduce the severity of an incoming Injury up to 4 Severity levels (to a minimum of Severity 4). You take a point of Mind damage and suffer a Major Battle Scar that lingers after the Injury is healed, even with proper Stabilization.

If an attack's Outcome is positive after defense, it results in a new Injury with Severity = Outcome + Weapon damage - Armor

An Outcome of 1 or greater will Stabilize the Injury and stop its degradation.
Complete success (Outcome 4+) puts the Injury on track to heal clean: its Battle Scar heals with it.
Failed attempts can be retried at +1 Difficulty per failure.
On a Botch, the Injury's Severity increases by 1.

Makeshift Stabilization

Attempt a major treatment using insufficient or improvised medical equipment.

Roll Intellect + Medicine, Difficulty > Severity

Any positive Outcome (1+) will Stabilize the Injury and stop its degradation.
However, any Outcome less than 4 increases the Injury’s Severity by 1. Botches also worsen its Battle Scar.
Regardless of Outcome, any Battle Scars caused by the Injury will persist after it is fully healed.
Failed attempts can be retried at +1 Difficulty per failure.

Self-stabilization attempts are rolled at +1 Difficulty.

Biography

The Akutagawa clan are your typical bloodthirsty loan sharks, weapon manufacturers and drug dealers. Its leader is Ryoshu Akutagawa, being rather influential in the family and is also known as the Jikkō-sha, for his brutality in the business. Mr Ryoshu is not only an extremely violent being is also a…Strict parent.

Ryunosuke is his son, the one that one day would follow the steps of the father, however the path to become a leader of a branch is a hard and rewarding one, Ryunosuke received the best food, the best gifts one being Ōkami-no-kaihō, a war fan created by the clan itself and a gift. Ryu also received the best women, and had to endure a painful rite of passage which involved the inscribing of a tattoo on his back, forearm and arm. Besides that, received the greatest boon someone could receive: the best education.

The small Ryu was in love with philosophy, even more so the old type: Ceticism, Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, Stoicism, Illuminism and the one that most impacted his life: Cynicism. While enjoying the luxuries of life, the tiger Kemonomimi had an epiphany and an immense guilt over his shoulders: although surrounded by anything he would ever want, Ryu had nothing, all of his possessions were acquired by gold extracted from blood. Not his blood so it wasn’t his by right. Disgusted with his lifestyle and blood in his hands, Ryunosuke left home, leaving behind his left pinkie, asking for forgiveness while taking the War fan with him.

Ryu left everything behind, took the life of a hobo to an extreme, like the teachers of the past he donned simple clothing and bandages to hide his heritage via tattoos, begged through the streets, however he soon found a more suitable lifestyle by defending himself and others from the rampant crime, a hobo vigilante of sorts, always receiving food and clothing as payment, sometimes drinks too.
