Legacy Power: Ritual of binding

Description

Through his understanding of rituals, Niel has found a way to utilize his knowledge and summon a shadow demon. Channeling this demons power through him. He draws a ritual circle that summons a shadow behind him and he binds the target in front of him with it.

Shadows comes out from either the person shadow or anywhere at all with darkness and holds the person in place until they break free.

System

Spend an Action, Exert your Mind, and roll Intellect + Occult Difficulty 6 to Restrict a target within 20 feet. The target may contest this by rolling Body, Difficulty 6 as a Free Action. Success fixes the target in place at their location, although they still can move their arms, use Powers, etc.

The target may attempt to break free by making an attack against their bonds at +1 difficulty. Breaking the binding requires an amount of damage equal to double the initial Outcome. Damage from multiple attacks is cumulative and stacks linearly. Other individuals may also damage the binding by attacking it at +1 difficulty.

Enhancements

  • Cantrip (Activating this Effect has no Exertion cost, but its Gift Cost can never be increased above 2.)
  • Ethereal Chains (The binding affects intangible targets like ghosts and can no longer be attacked physically. Instead, a restricted target may roll Mind at Difficulty 7 to attempt to escape the binding.)

Drawbacks

  • Focus (Using this Effect requires a specific kind of item.)
    • Object - ankle bracelet
  • Unique Focus (This Power takes the form of a specific, unique item, which can be borrowed, lost, or stolen. You must use / wear this item as intended to use this Power.)
    • Focus - Ankle bracelet of the shadow lord
  • Fuel (Using this Effect consumes some material good in addition to its other costs.)
    • Fuel Unit - Blood Vial
