  • Circumstances

    Circumstances describe your situation.

Examples include enemies, wealth, notoriety, social status, contacts, fame, and imprisonment.

Because each Playgroup has its own setting, Circumstances record the Playgroup they were acquired in.

    Conditions

Conditions describe your state of being.

Examples of Conditions include curses, diseases, and impactful personality quirks.

Conditions are granted by Assets and Liabilities or by GMs based on the events of Contracts and Downtime activities like Moves, and Loose Ends.

Because Conditions may have GM-created systems, they also record the Playgroup they were acquired in.

    From Assets and Liabilities
Nightmares: Death of Family Your sleep is plagued with horrible nightmares. At the start of each Contract and each time you fall asleep, make a Self-Control roll. If you fail, you take one Mind damage.
Defective Sight You have trouble seeing things accurately. All Perception rolls which involve sight are at +2 Difficulty, and rolls which involve aiming at a target are at +1 Difficulty (this includes ranged combat, as well as called shots in melee combat).
Hemophilia Your blood doesn't clot as normal, making any Injury a potentially lethal one. All Injuries Severity 2 or higher degrade at a rate of 1 Severity per minute. Stabilizations are made at +2 Difficulty, and all Proper Stabilizations require a blood transfusion.
Focused You are able to remain focused despite your circumstances and surroundings. Any Mind Penalty you have is reduced by 2.
Trained Reflexes Your life has been filled with tight situations and violent encounters, so when the fighting starts, you act quickly. You get +3 dice to all Initiative rolls.
Deep Sleeper You require more sleep than most people, and are quick to fall asleep but slow to wake up. All attempts to put you to sleep succeed automatically. A full restful sleep requires at least 10 hours of sleep. Attempts to wake you up while sleeping, as well as Perception checks you make while you’re sleeping, are at +2 difficulty.
Deleted Conditions with active Assets and Liabilities
    • Convenient Klutz
    • Pack Beast

    Loose Ends

Loose Ends will cause problems for you if you don't tie them up.

Examples of Loose Ends include enemies, debts, evidence, and promises.

All Loose Ends have a Cutoff that counts down each time you attend a Contract. When it hits zero, the Threat of your Loose End manifests, causing issues for your Contractor.

You cannot see the current values of your Loose Ends' Cutoffs, but you can take initiative and make Moves on your Downtimes to deal with them before time runs out.

    Biography

The German roots of himself gave him this old first name. Growing up as a young boy in noble circumstances, his father was the greatest role model. He was a high-ranking officer and Franz wanted to be like that. Protect the innocent and save lives. His mother, on the other hand, was depressed and an alcoholic, which caused her to die very early.

At the age of 18, Franz volunteered for the ninth army in order to be able to make a difference in the "final phase" of the war against Exfrul. Although the war didn't last much longer, it saw many bad things like genocide and other war crimes. In the course of his military career, Franz became more and more hardened and now wants to fight on the side of the Reformed in the civil war.
