Beverly Forge grew up in the small town of Hollis Creek, Nebraska, where she learned the value of hard work and independence from her parents, Jack and Marla. Her father, a mechanic, and her mother, a retired schoolteacher, both instilled in her a strong sense of practicality and resilience. Beverly spent her childhood fixing things alongside her father, learning the mechanics of plumbing, and often feeling like an outsider due to her preference for working with tools over engaging in the more traditional pursuits of her peers. Beverly's heart was often consumed by her ambition to build a career, which eventually led her to leave Hollis Creek for the city, where she found success as a plumber, running her own business and working on high-profile projects.
However, her career in the city came to a tragic halt in 2013 when a sewage backup from a new complex she worked on during the Superbowl caused a massive disaster, traumatizing viewers and injuring players. Though Beverly couldn’t understand how the incident occurred, she was blamed for it, and the public backlash was intense. Unable to cope with the media scrutiny and the feeling of being a pariah, she returned to Hollis Creek, seeking solace in the familiarity of her hometown. The trauma of the event and the isolation that followed shaped her growing dissatisfaction with the capitalist system. She saw firsthand how people, like herself, were undervalued and oppressed, and she dreamed of a world without such inequality.
Now, back in Hollis Creek, Beverly works as a plumber in the town, fixing everything from leaky faucets to broken pipes for the local community. While she’s learned to find some peace in the simplicity of small-town life, she still harbors a deep dissatisfaction with the capitalist system and the discrimination she’s witnessed. For now, her focus remains on rebuilding her life, helping her neighbors, and dreaming of a future where people can live and work in a more just and compassionate world.
