Free Spirit "Spirit animal? Well, if I had to choose-"

1
Requires Seasoned
The power to temporarily transfer your consciousness into a Creature.
Used by Karmen Stimus, Created by PascalsAngel.
(When activating this Effect, it is obvious you are interacting with the target. )

Karmen's spirit, taking the form of an undulating sphere, bulging with myriad shifting animalistic shapes, darts from her current body to enter her target.

Take a Severity-1 Injury and spend two Actions performing the following ritual: Karmen makes quiet, animalistic sounds, clearly motioning between herself and her target. Select a Non-Alien Creature target within 20 feet. You must maintain Concentration while activating this Effect, and it fails if you are interrupted.

You possess your target and have control over their actions for the next hour. Your original body will be left behind, unconscious, in its same location. If the possession ends and your original body was killed or destroyed in some way, you will die, you remain in the host indefinitely rather than dying. You may spend an Action to end the possession early.

Stats: Any Actions you take will use the possessed creature’s Brawn, Dexterity, and Perception, but use your own Charisma, Intellect, and Abilities.

Gifts: You have access to your Powers from within the host's body.

Death: If the host suffers an Injury, or is destroyed or incapacitated, you are evicted back into your own body. If the possession ends and your original body was killed or destroyed in some way, you will die, you remain in the host indefinitely rather than dying.

Eviction: You cannot force your host to take Actions which would violate their instinct for self-preservation (which includes engaging in Combat for any purpose other than self-defense or natural hunting); any attempt to do so will sever the connection and send you back into your own body. If you are forced out of the target's body prematurely, you must make a Trauma roll.

If you die and there is a bird within a mile, you instead possess them indefinitely.

You may only use this Effect once per day.

  • The Injury received from activating this Effect heals in 1 day and cannot be prevented or prematurely healed by any means.
  • If targeting a Sapient target that counts as a Creature due to an Effect, you must succeed a contested Mind roll. You roll at Difficulty 6, and the target rolls at Difficulty 8.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

The ward requires Concentration to monitor, though it will remain active until you deactivate it. The ward can be discovered if someone knows what they are looking for, but is otherwise inconspicuous and cannot be identified as a ward.

Your Ward records all activity it observes, regardless of whether or not you are actively monitoring it. This recording can be played back and referenced later.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a target within 20 feet which has both fuel and oxygen available (if you are starting a new fire). You must actively and obviously use a laser pointer to activate this Effect.

You may start a new fire as large as a torch's flame at your target. You may create fires the size of a lighter or candle flame without Exerting your Mind. Your fires require fuel and oxygen in order to continue burning.

Lighting a target on fire deals 2 Damage each Round on your turn, starting in the Round after the one in which they caught fire. This Damage is reduced by Armor, but the target’s Armor rating will be depleted by any Damage dealt, destroying the Armor once it reaches 0.

You may extinguish flames as a Reaction. This does not extend to explosives.

You may spend a Free Action on your initiative move a fire as large as a torch's flame that is within 20 feet to another location within 20 feet. You may Exert your Mind to draw a line which a fire up to twice as large as a torch's flame cannot cross.

    • Anger (shouting, cruelty, denying requests, attacking)
    • Pity (stopping an attack, executing an injured target)
    • Happiness (generosity, dancing, joking, socializing)
    • Sadness (finding solitude, openly crying, demotivation)
