When Makoto Yuki activates her Gift to summon shadows, participants and observers witness a dramatic shift in the surrounding environment. The air grows heavy with a palpable sense of darkness, as tendrils of shadow begin to coalesce around Makoto's outstretched hand or chosen focal point.
The shadows twist and writhe, taking on ethereal forms that seem to move of their own accord. Spectral figures emerge from the darkness, their features obscured by the murky depths from which they arise. They obey Makoto's commands with an eerie obedience, moving silently and swiftly to carry out her will.
As the shadows swirl and dance around Makoto, participants and observers are left with a sense of awe and unease, knowing that they are in the presence of a force beyond mortal comprehension. It is a sight that leaves an indelible mark on the minds of those who witness it, a reminder of the true extent of Makoto's power as a shadowmancer.
The Gift of summoning shadows is not merely a mundane ability; it is a manifestation of primal forces that exist beyond the realm of mortal comprehension. In the depths of the human psyche, there lies a connection to the primordial darkness that has existed since the dawn of time, a wellspring of power waiting to be tapped by those with the courage to embrace the shadows.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action.
Summon a single Shadow at your location. They will last for two hours, or until they are destroyed. They are controlled by the GM but will follow any commands you give. You may have at most 1 minion active at a time.
The Corn-Infested Stevewalker appears first as a skinwalker coiled in corn stalks, with cobs bursting out of his body. His skin rots, his identity fades, yet still he rises, revived by the Necornomicon's forbidden knowledge.
After being summoned, the Stevewalker can freely shift his form into a normal human named Steve, the corn and rot vanishing, only returning when he reverts back.
The first page of the Necornomicon tells of a dark, soul-binding ritual that tethers a lost life to a still living one. A simple curse, the first trick in every necornmancer's arsenal, and yet the consequences of such a spell can be... disastrous, to say the least. The texts advise any potential users to prioritize finding lesser beings to become their soul-bound familiars, as life restored in this way is fickle and disturbing, even taxing to the caster's very being. Loved ones never return in a form that's entirely correct, and some things are better left resting in peace.
Perhaps a grief-stricken farmboy who just discovered where his heart lies was not the best person to bestow the Necornomicon unto. But whatever, close enough, welcome back Stevewalker from 7-Eleven.
Increase your sacrificial Injury's Severity by 1 and spend an Action.
Summon a single Sapient Corn-Infested Stevewalker at your location. They last for two hours or until they are destroyed. They are controlled by the GM but will follow any commands you give. You may have at most one active at a time.
Anyone who witnesses you during this Effect's activation or for its duration will almost certainly be disturbed to see a brief blood sacrifice, followed by a long-dead skinwalker emerging from the ground, with corn stalks entwining its decaying limbs.
If you do not have a sacrificial Injury when you activate this Effect, take a new Severity-1 Injury.
By donning a pair of curly-toed shoes, Preston may walk on walls and ceilings.
You gain the following benefits at all times. You must actively and obviously be using Curly-toed shoes to gain the benefits of this Effect.
You may move easily and without a roll in any of the following situations.
Lou’s skin is toughened, acting as it’s own armor.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
You have 4 Armor, which reduces incoming Damage. Armor from multiple sources does not stack. This Armor cannot be circumvented with Called Shots.
When you take Damage from a source which is within 5 feet, deal back as much Damage as your Armor prevented.
And within the fog of Gunsmoke, a figure can be seen. Shot to shit, starved to the bone, spewing ash and smoke. The Colonel. A figure of war. A soldier made of chaos. Holding an ethereal rifle that shoots embers shrouded in destructive mist that corrodes everything it touches.
You gain the following benefits as long as you are in the Fog Of War (amorphous).
You are permanently and visibly transformed: a ghastly vissage of a soldier shrouded in brimstone. You are considered to be a Sapient, Non-Living being when targeted..
While in atmosphereric (strong winds and vaccums no longer affect you), heat, cold, pressure, and other atmospheric hazards do not affect you, and dangerous local flora and fauna will not bother you unless you give them a reason.
Your Injuries no longer degrade with time.
You may make a +2 Weapon Damage Cinder Spewer (Rifle, Dex + Firearms) attack without additional equipment.
Any creature that consumes or is injected with your bodily fluids receives a Severity-1 Injury. Every minute, they must roll Body Difficulty 9. If they fail, the Injury worsens by 1 Severity. If they succeed, the Injury stops worsening.
You cannot be mistaken for a normal human. You cannot always use standard human clothes, equipment, vehicles, and facilities, and when you can, you suffer an increased Difficulty.
You are incapable of fine object manipulation and can only hold or grasp things in a crude, clumsy way.
Maria breathes a gout of black smoke and glowing cinders toward a creature. The noxious mix swirls directly into their eyes (or other mucus membranes) as if sucked from the air. The smoke will not damage the creature or otherwise impair their senses. Instead, they grow drowsy and soon fall into a deep and troubled sleep filled with revealing visions of Maria. When they awaken, their eyes are gritty with soot.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Living target within 30 feet. Roll Charisma + Occult at Difficulty 6. Affected targets may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 6.
If you succeed, your target becomes drowsy for the next 30 seconds, during which time they suffer an additional -2 dice Penalty to all Actions. At the end of their drowsiness, they fall asleep for Outcome x 3 minutes.
Sleeping targets will not prematurely wake up on their own, but may still be woken up by sudden loud noises, being jarred or splashed with water, taking Damage, or similar rousing events. They will also awaken before dying of hunger, thirst, or suffocation. Drowsy targets always fall asleep, regardless of what happens while they are drowsy.
You may determine the content of an affected target's dreams while they are asleep, but they must involve you in some way, and will reveal you as the source of their sleep as well as reveal secret information about yourself to them. By maintaining Concentration, you may enter their dreams and converse with them directly.
The survivalist is adept at following an animal through any terrain. Once they find a recent track, they may focus their will to illuminate the trail of their target. Any part of the target's trail within eyeshot glows a bright, misty green. Even the trails made by vehicles the target was riding in are illuminated.
Exert your Mind and spend a minute. Select a Sapient target within 20 feet. You may select a target at any range if you use up fresh tracks of the target. At the end of your investigation, roll Perception + Survival at Difficulty 6.
You learn all the following information about your target:
The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.
Any information you gather is revealed by illuminating the trail in a glowing light and made publicly available.
You cannot investigate the same target more than once per day.
The Necromancer temporarily assumes the form of their own corpse, complete with maggots, spilled entrails, and exposed bone. They cannot move while transformed, but their empty eye sockets see as well as ever.
Exert your Mind and Spend an Action.
You transform into your own corpse for one minute. While transformed, you may control the functioning of the object you have transformed into. You can perceive your surroundings as normal. You can be targeted as a Non-Living, Sapient Object.
If you are damaged while transformed, the damage is realized when you return to normal. If you are damaged before you transform, your inanimate form will appear partially damaged.
You may end this Effect prematurely as a Free Action.
Finally, the girls are fusing the way they’ve wanted to since they began Contracting, three and a half years ago. It took Grace’s left eye for them to try this, but the girls are now able to spend a week focusing their energy towards a Battle Scarred area and permanently replacing it with The Spirit’s ghostly flesh. The replaced chunks, eyes, arms, whatever may come, appear just as The Spirit’s: bluish and semi-transparent, but now function just as the respective physical flesh would.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
Any Injury you receive heals quickly, reducing its Severity by one level every 6 hours. Any Injuries you receive while this Effect is active do not deteriorate over time. However, any Battle Scars caused by such an Injury will remain unless it is Properly Stabilized as normal.
All Injuries you receive are considered Properly Stabilized. You may also choose to heal any Battle Scar on yourself that may not have been caused by an Injury. Doing so takes one day, and the Battle Scar affects you fully until that time.
Possession of this Power grants the following Battle Scar: any scars that heal this way leave the flesh in that area bluish and semi-transparent, causing you to be viewed as a freak by most people who see you.
No terrestrial animal dares defy the will of the beastmaster. The beastmaster exerts their dominance over an animal by locking eyes and giving a primal cry. The creature immediately becomes docile and eager to please.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Non-Alien Creature within 20 feet. This Effect cannot be used unless the target is a terrestrial animal.
For the next day, you may issue specific commands to your target which they will be compelled to follow.
Your commands can be complex and multi-layered, though they must still be specific. You cannot make them obviously endanger themselves or violate their instinct for self-preservation. The effects of the command will fade after a day has passed.
Unimportant characters just can't seem to hit our hero with their attacks. Injuries that are sustained from underlings are conveniently non-severe.
You gain the following benefits as long as the attacker isn't important enough to have a name.
You have 4 Armor, which reduces incoming Damage. Armor from multiple sources does not stack. This Armor cannot be circumvented with Called Shots.
