Aura of Depression "Yeah...go ahead...shoot me..."

1
The power to inflame the emotions of others.
Used by Dribbles, Created by Author.
(When activating this Effect, it is obvious you are interacting with the target. )

The clown simply stands there, dreary and depressing. The final boss then proceeds to curl up in a ball and decide to rethink his life choices.

This Effect activates whenever an entity within range commits itself to attacking you. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Select a Living or Animate target within 300 feet. “Your target should be intuitively based on the triggering event. Roll Charisma + Performance at Difficulty 6. Affected targets can resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 6 -3 dice.

If you succeed, for the next minute, your target will do things they otherwise wouldn’t have done, inspired by depression. They will not necessarily display their emotions in an obvious way. Your own emotions are also shifted in the same way.

Actions they take will be in keeping with their character and the way they tend to deal with strong emotions. They will be unlikely to change their mind about any actions taken or decisions made until after the Effect ends.

Possession of this Power grants the following Battle Scar: That Guy - You've just got a punchable face. (You receive +1 Difficulty on all Social Rolls where being a depressing bitch would matter).

If any affected target takes or deals Damage, this Effect ends.

  • When triggered, the Effect activation resolves immediately after the triggering Action. It is not Reaction speed.
  • Common emotions and the actions they inspire
    • Anger (shouting, cruelty, denying requests, attacking)
    • Pity (stopping an attack, executing an injured target)
    • Happiness (generosity, dancing, joking, socializing)
    • Sadness (finding solitude, openly crying, demotivation)
    • Fear (running, attacking)
  • If you succeed, the target MUST take at least one Action they otherwise would not have. Hey, GM who is reading this, I'm talking to you. You have to enforce this. Remember: Gifts must feel powerful.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Community Power Gifts

Spend a Quick Action. You must actively and obviously use Pockets to activate this Effect.

You may withdraw an item from your stash, or add an item that is within 30 feet of you to your stash. You may only stash targets which are not possessed by someone else, and are freestanding and unattached.

You may store Objects in your stash, each no larger than something which could fit inside a briefcase (15 liters), and you may store up to 3 things at a time.

You may choose to equip any equipment you withdraw at no additional cost.

  • "Equip" refers to drawing a gun, putting on a piece of armor, etc. You may store or withdraw a maximum of 6 items in a given Round. Reminder: you may perform up to two Quick Actions for -2 dice each or 3 if you use up your Action, unless a different Effect grants you additional Quick Actions.
  • The Maximum Object Size parameter is intended to roughly capture the weight / size restriction of items and isn’t intended to restrict shape. GM discretion is advised. A human being is approximately 60 liters.
  • Containers which hold multiple things may count as a single item so long as the things within are generally packaged together. For instance, you may stash a clip full of bullets, a medical kit full of medical supplies, or a box of crackers, but you cannot stash a backpack full of miscellaneous equipment.
  • You may only attempt to store Objects which are free-standing and disconnected from other things. The use of this Effect will not allow you to sever any connections holding an Object in place.

On music:
It's a blemish in Zephyren's past, yet one of his most fond highlights all the same. The sense of community that music brings is universal, as anyone can understand when a score sounds upbeat or solemn. He could put his emotions into it and no one would know the subject of his grief, only that he does have feelings after all. It never quite leaves his mind, so he finds himself stopping in his tracks whenever he hears it - whether geophonic or anthropophonic or biophonic - he has to appreciate how it all flows together.

On animals:
Wildlife is harder to spot in Hong Kong, with all the urbanization. Zephyren remembers his first few months in Canada, which were often spent just gawking at the animals he's never seen. Particularly, he had no idea coyotes were dangerous. Whoops.

On comprehension:
Now that even animals can speak to him, he has more noise to filter through. It might just be his downfall.

You gain the following benefits at all times.

You may understand and communicate to Creatures as if you are fluent in a relevant language.

  • Communing with creatures does not grant them intellect but does allow you to converse with them.

Allena's shadow, after too many near-lethal experiences with firearms has developed a distaste for them.

This Effect activates whenever a firearm is aimed towards you while your Hoplophobia is triggered. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Select a Firearm within 20 feet no larger than a duffel bag (35 liters). Roll Charisma + Occult Difficulty 6.

The target object is sabotaged. No immediate change is visible, but the next time the firearm is fired, this Power takes effect. If your Outcome is 4 or higher, the target will be completely destroyed and can no longer function, though it may still be repaired. If your Outcome is less than 4, the target will be partially damaged, and any attempts to use it will suffer a dice penalty equal to your Outcome.

Possession of this Power grants the following Trauma at all times: Hoplophobia, A Self-Control roll to avoid getting angry or running away from a firearm..

  • The penalty from an object being damaged will stack with itself if a target is hit multiple times, but the object is destroyed when it reaches a total penalty of -4.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

Exert your Mind and spend 1 minute.

Choose an Object which could fit inside a regular backpack (up to 27 liters). It must be Non-Alien and generic. You cannot create explosives. You cannot create firearms.

Roll Brawn + Melee to fabricate your chosen Object. The Difficulty is assigned by the GM and depends on the specificity of your chosen Object. Your created items no longer expire, and will last until they are destroyed.

Anyone who witnesses you during this Effect's activation or for its duration will almost certainly be disturbed to see Kanni slough off a chunk of her metallic dermise, crushing and molding it into the desired shape.

  • You may cause a created item to expire at will as a Free Action, destroying the item.

When a creature is given proper respect after being killed parts of it's spirit is left behind within the bones of the creature. Through a small ritual these spirits can be used to improve the item that is made with the bones but this process requires the use of a skull from an animal to function as a conduit between the item and the user. once this ritual is completed it gives the item a small amount of sapience for a split second while it is being used this allows the user to preform actions using the item that would normally be impossible. Sometimes if the user preforms the ritual poorly they can receive mental and physical deformities, but this issue can be fixed through greater skill in the ritual.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are engaged in combat with Items made of bone. You must actively and obviously be using Animal Skull to gain the benefits of this Effect.

+2 dice to all rolls utilizing Items made of bone.

Possession of this Power grants the following Battle Scar: Disfigured.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Assassin: If your attack Injures your target, they cannot make a sound, even incidentally, for a single Round. Even the sound of their body and equipment dropping to the ground is silenced.
  • Boomerang: On your Initiative, in the Round following a thrown attack, the objects you threw will return back to you. You may catch them automatically, without making a roll or spending an Action.
  • Bullet Parry: You may use a Reaction to Defend against any Melee, thrown, or projectile Attack in range of your Attacks.
  • Finesse: When Attacking a single being, you may limit the Severity of any Injury you inflict or determine a maximum Wound Level, including Incapacitated. You may also choose to make this Injury properly or improperly stabilized, or to keep it unstabilized.
  • Juggler: You may juggle a number of throwable objects equal to your Dexterity as a Free Action. When you make a thrown weapon attack, you may choose to roll or re-use the last thrown attack's Outcome. Resets at the start of Initiative.
  • Ricochet: You can make a thrown attack against a target behind cover so long as there is at least one exposed pathway to them.
  • Track And Field: “If you move at least 25 feet in a straight line before making a thrown Attack in that direction its effective range is tripled, and you deal +1 Damage.
  • Yeet!: You can throw things up to 100 extra feet per point of Brawn with no penalty. Anything thrown further than 100 feet will not land at its target until the next Round on your initiative.
