Ghoulish Ghosts

Dr. Edward Graves and the Haunted House

March 1st, Wednesday.
8:00pm.

I had no clients today, no cases to deal with, no people to discuess things to., so I wasn't expecting a guest.

When I opened the door I thought he might've been a salesman, a religious recruiter or maybe even a client who had forgone the regular office route. I maintained this last belief for more than a normal amount of his time there.

He introduced himself as Midas, and I now see why. He is THE midas, the king of the legend. An unfortunate truth for myself, to have to witness his affinity for gold.

He is interesting to talk to, he speaks for a long time but says very little. He is vague and cautious with his language, but he is polite.

He offered me a job, at first as previously mentioned I believed it would be a criminal case or at least maybe something of the sort. It was not that.

Instead, It was something to do with the supernatural specifically, I decided to go along with it. To see how exactly it would go.

The place I was taken to was the woods, near a dilapidated house that could almost be mistaken for a castle, it reminded me of my parents manor with it's old and creaky floorboards. The band members there told us we were apparently ghost hunters, I was not expecting that to be the job, I almost thought it was a joke for a second.

But then I saw Dr. Edward Graves my...new coworker..propelled to the ceiling. He can talk to ghosts, and he did that in front of me. It was a long conversation and I missed out on half of it, but these poor child spirits had been trapped there since 1901.

We decided to give them a proper burial.

I liked the Doctor's hair.

The Next day

March 2nd, Thursday.

7:00pm.

I understand what Edward meant by some of these contracts being 'traumatising', I hope he is doing well as it seems he has been involved in several. I managed to get over it this time, since these children have finally been put to resr, I feel it is much better for them that way.

Despite this, I decided to get a head start and book myself in another therapy session, just to go over my old fears and phobias and hopefully get some control over them. I feel as though this will help me in the future, I wouldn't want to end up in an attempt to balance more than what I really can.

I have to say, after that first contract I really am missimg Dr. Edward Graves, it's not often I hang out with people outside of work and genuinely enjoy their company, so it was a rare (and welcome) occurrence. I suppose at some point I should swing by the NYPD, perhaps whenever I next need to pick up the paperwork. That way I can surely speak to Captain, and in relation Dr Graves, though I'm sure he'd be more than busy so I'd keep it brief.

I do wonder when they'll next need my services, and what exactly that'll be like. Will it always be ghost hunting? That is what they called us last time, I wonder. And I wonder if I'll see this Midas ever again? What a strange situation.

Oh, I almost forgot.
A package arrived in the mail today, from my family. It's out old spinal whip, used by out ancestors for generations! I can't honestly believe they'd allow me over my brother to have it, but I'm sure he would of received something equal if not better.

Beware the Assassin!

A party

March 8, Wednesday.
5:00am.

Today, I have a newfound understanding of fish.

This contract was very different from the last, it all started when I was in my office, doing paperwork. An arrow launched itself through..well through nowhere, and attatched was that awful contract. I signed it of course.

Before I knew it I was on this bus, pig-themed for some reason, and there were others there with me, two...uh three other contractors as opposed to one this time.

Louie G, an apprent plumber, he was a little condescending but maybe I just read him wrong.

Louie C, I don't have much to say about this one I'll be honest. He confused me..?

Cassie, they seem lovely, but very very anxious.

This time, we were at a party full of teenagers, a halloween themed one in the middle of March..for some reason. I went dressed as a fish, I thought it was funny, until it hit midnight and I turned into an actual fish.

The others were affected too, many types of strange creatures and characters were running around, thankfully Louie was helpful convincing them to..not go crazy? While I focused on not being a fish, unwrapping a mummy and waiting it all out.

I'm still honestly not sure as to why all of this happened, but Cassie is currently sleeping in my living room, I hope it is not too uncomfortable for them in there.

And I managed to keep my head on.

Cúirt sióg

21st March.

12:30pm.

The past week, a few things have happened, and I feel as though I must recount them before I forget. Firstly, I decided to visit Dr. Edward Graves. I remembered he spoke of the supernatural and how he was unsure of how exactly to punish their crimes, I am sure he would've called me if he needed me but I had leftover sandwich ingredients that I didn't want to go to waste.

After speaking to (and slightly catching up with) Captain Jackson, he showed me the way to the morgue, it seems Edward was surprised by my visit.

There in the morgue was a strange body indeed, covered in splinters and bark under it's fingernails. Regardless of this, neither me nor Ed were particularly good at investigating and so we waited for Detective Frazier O'Neal to return with the case.

I managed to get a glimpse of Edward's phone, and it seemed he was doing everything BUT investigating, in hindsight maybe I should've told Cassie to stay home instead of getting burgers with him and distracting him. Soon after, his faulty light knocked my head clean off! Just my luck! Well, he knows now at least..and I know he's undead.

Also just my luck.

The victim was killed by Dryads, at least I was lucky enough for it to be another fae creature. And so..I took Edward Graves to Fae court, Cúirt sióg, to be my witness and testify against the Dryads. The court session itself was way easier than any human case I've had so far, a few years custody for the Dryads since the victim was slain in self defence, they get to keep their oath and humans get to die less with the implementation of a ward.

I'm not sure how Ed found it in the Fae realms, but I do hope it wasn't too bad.
Soon afterwards we returned to the park, and I allowed Cassie and Edward to talk for a while. She seemed happy to be able to touch someone, I'm glad they're getting along. Edward even invited us back to try this goat stew, he's an excellent cook.

A while later, Cassie was in the know of my habits, I feel sorry for them, having to see or hear me in the bathroom like that. Oh well, at least it isn't all too often.

Perhaps I'll invite that Eli out again sometime.

The Kelp Sheep

The less good horse-related fae creature

April 1st.

11:30pm

A new month, a new contract. I was glad to receive a message from a familiar face, Dr. Edward Graves, seems he too was going to be on this one. I offered him a ride down to Scotland, the place we were needed, on Watercress. He obliged!

When we arrived we noticed a new face, he soon introduced himself  as Larry, Larry something or other...it was a long name. Anyway, he was a salesman, seemed nice enough which was a good respite from the antics of Louie G.

And so, we rode again, into town. Me, Edward and our new acquaintance Larry. We stopped by the store, a local 'co-op' and decided to treat ourselves to a little platter. Cheese, salami, grapes, crackers, pátê and a wine named 'irresistible Barbera'.

Interestingly enough, Dr. Edward Graves can't only just revive people, but also animals. We later learnt this after looking at the corpse of the recently deceased sheep, I've got to say it was...fine. The whole experience.

I firmly believe Ireland atill has the better horse-related fae creatures, although maybe I'm bias.

After taking several injuries from the devil of the sea (except for the one Larry took away from me), I went atraight to my family to brag to them. It felt quite good.

Oh, and, I bought the mechanical pencil from Larry. I had a feeling it was a scam but I couldn't bypass the idea he gave me to write a love letter, anonymously of course. I hope Dr. Graves enjoys it.

The family

April 2nd.

7:00pm.

I decided to visit the family once again, with my mother being home for a short while, I wanted to properly recount them on the last few interesting trips I had taken, maybe they'd be interested and all.

My mother was the same as usual, making sure I was exercising, eating well, gave me a bag of raw meat she'd hunted out in the woods to take home, and fawned all over my new injuries, loudly announcing her 'Boy was growing up!'. You wouldn't think I was 34 already. I forgot how full of grip her hugs were exactly.

My father was the same as always too, grunting in response and nodding solemnly with respect to my stories and gained injuries, he was just cleaning and seemed busy so I did not push him to see what had happened as of recently.

My sister seems to be doing well, she is hyper as usual and has only just awakes part of her fire powers, running around without her head on and setting lighter-sized flames to the furniture seems to have had my father busy, but she liked the rock I had gotten her from the Scotland beach. I'm glad.

My brother, well, not much to say there, he has been doing well as the self proclaimed most 'fearsome warrior in all of Ireland', he did ask how the job was going but I am not too sure whether it was condescendingly or not. Either way, his life is well, and he is getting married in a few years. I am somewhat happy for him, but maybe it would be better if he stopped pushing me to answer about my romantic life. It sure does feel like he is rubbing his romantic success in.

The Bagman

The church and the bagman

19th April, Wednesday.

1:05am.

I'm starting to believe that the harbringers are attempting to mess with me personally, first the other horse-related fae creature and now the location being a church. I am once again vaguely annoyed by the contract, but alas.

This time I received the arrow again, at least it wasn't in my office this time, my secretary was more than scared last time that happened. I arrived in the pig-themed bus, saw the driver once more and noticed Larry! At least there happened to be another face I recognised, always nice to see. As well as this, me and Larry were able to meet a new contractor, I believe his name was Dill. A ten-year-old beetle boy, strange, but what can I be surprised by at this point?

Throughout the investigation of the church, which was uncomfortable to be in, but I coped well enough, Dill seemed to be talking to himself? When I questioned him on this he didn't seem to know who he was talking to either. The old organ worked, and nothing seemed all that amiss, other than the apparent horrible smell Dill reminded us of.

That was until Dill was grabbed by a hand emerging from his very own bag, we managed to pull him out and reveal this gnarled, twisted humanoid creature emerging from inside of it. Attack after attack we realised that guns and the whip weren't going to affect it all that much, it rushed back to it's bag and returned to the..bag realm..?

Dill seemed to leave with this bag, and when we went to check upon him, we saw a lone shovel, a newly dug grave and a note which said 'WENTT 4 CHTRIP''. I assume he went home and also buried the bag alongside the creature, good thinking in all honesty. I am still surprised this child is even here, let alone the grenades and guns he has access to.

I remember Edward mentioning Midas hiring children, although now that I think about it, the contract had a lot of small print, thinking about it I believe it said something about the harbinger of Sloth..? Does that mean there are seven of them?

Downtime

Edward and the family

April 23rd.

Yesterday was  more eventful than I had anticipated, I mean I anticipated a bit I suppose...it was just eventful if anything!

I had invited Edward to the family meal, I didn't wish to be the only one with no one to bring, that had happened last family meal and my brother never allowed me to live it down, not that I was embarrassed, it was just annoying. I managed to convince Edward to come with me, and pose as my fake boyfriend, to stop any rude comments, especially those from Blythe.

It went a little too well, Edward ended up telling my parents of some interesting stories but I'm not too sure he wished to share as of yet. Blythe seems impressed that I would ever be able to get someone like Edward, while my parents and Bridgit seem to like him very much. I am glad of that at the very least.

Dinner was lovely as usual, I am glad we had sides of cooked vegetables or else Edward would've suffered, I'm not sure if he's the biggest fan of raw meats and organs.

Later on, after my mother going through those embarrassing scrap books, she invited us both to stay..Edward agreed and I then felt obliged to do so myself. The room was nice, but I wasn't feeling up to resting just yet, and so for the next hour or two we decided to drink and so a jigsaw puzzle...the only date I know of. I am now very embarrassed, as Edward mentioned the poem slipped into his things. He asked me directly! I couldn't even say I didn't write it.

And now, despite my whole life of constant loneliness..I think I have two people...maybe..pining after me. I don't know how to feel, I love Edward..him and I have bonded well since that first contract, but I am also sure my brother is ultimately right. Would he be happy with ME? Am I even deserving of HIM?

If all else fails I suppose I could just kill myself.

Downtime

Frazier’s birthday

Edward came to visit me as of recent, and brought back with him a small invitation to Frazier O'Neals birthday party, in Las Vegas too, I should've figured. As strange as he is I cannot debate he is strangely good at his job, and is a good enough person to call my friend, and so I decided to go along with it with Edward.

We arrived quickly, stumbling into the setting almost in an instant due to the powers of...Eros? I believe, a tall four-armed man. The place itself was exactly as one would expect, loud, bright and quite bustling, I couldn't see anyone leaving however so I couldn't ask them about the place itself.

Nontheless, we went inside, I myself decided it was better to stay by the bar and drink with Edward. I'm not exactly a huge fan of gambling, but the place was nice enough for it to be enjoyable.  Apparently there had been reports of strange happenings there, but in all honestly I could not see anything up, that was until Larry and my newest acquaintance Billy Chance returned to the restaurant we were in to deliver us some grave news. An entire week had passed, and we had been inside this building the entire time, apparently Larry was not affected and so we deducted it must've been the food, there was a lot of spitting out at that table.

The rest of the night was even more of a blur than the rest of the event, as far as I know both Billy and Larry were upstairs, alongside Edward temporarily. I suppose this is the best outcome overall, as everyone seems to be safe.

Now I'll just have to explain this to my clients.

Moleman Suprem

Holes

I don't really remember the date...

Anyway, I went on another contract today, but this time I was not approached by Midas. Instead, I believe his name was Lucifer, the bible one too. It is a good thing I've never read it I suppose. This contract brought back some memories as we found ourselves in Scotland, I was however glad to see no sea-devil this time.

I met a new face,  Johnny Rooks a talking bird. He is..something, that is for sure. Alongside me and this bird was Cassie, good to see them getting out more and finally someone I hadn't met before, Mateo I believe. Not someone I usually would hang around with but despite the drugs I suppose he seems more than fine. The usual hijinks ensued as we wandered around these caves, we spoke of some interesting things I must admit, favourite pokemon and such.

The supernatural twist this time came in the form of molemen, they were even chanting their own names. Handy I suppose. Maybe that is why we were talking about pokemon.
We were threatened by their leader, naming himself moleman suprem, and we soon defeated him and his two rats.
Well, we're the molemen suprem now.
