The Wizard's Rainbow

Five glass balls still exist in this world that's moved on. Five colors of Maerlyn's Rainbow. Five out of an original thirteen. Relics, artifacts they're called, and each have their own powers, motivations and hungers. They represent the 12 Guardian Animals, the 12 portals. And the thirteenth represents the Tower itself.

There is the blue one, the green one, the orange and the pink. Finally, there is Black Thirteen. They don't stay in men's hands for long, and don't leave them sane or with their souls intact afterward. But nonetheless, they exist. And are powerful tools for those with the will to use them, and the strength to resist them.

The Dark Tower has no members and is closed.

It is reputed to be the center of creation. The center of all possible universes and realities. A tower in the middle of an endless field of roses that connects all planes of existence and holds them steady with it's Beams.

House Rules

Contractors from The Dark Tower Are portable, and may play in Contracts in other Playgroups.

The Dark Tower grants 6 Experience points to GMs who achieve the Golden Ratio.

Time does not operate here as it would in other worlds and realities connected to it.

Walking through a desert may take you hundreds of years. Or it may only take two weeks for a different group. You can fall asleep by a campfire and wake up ten years later. Or ten years earlier. You can see a man you knew from your childhood, appearing exactly the same as the last time you saw him.

Normally, Contractors are not present in Mid-World long enough to feel the full effects of this strange time dilation. But it is to be kept in mind for long-term occupancy.

Also, because The Dark Tower is comprised of infinite different universes and realities, a contractor can "reside" here without actually being in the main Core world that contains The Dark Tower. They would not be subject to the time dilation that affects the Core world.

NOTICE FOR RESIDENTS OF THE DARK TOWER: You may not buy off traumas with XP. They can only be removed via powers. But you do not take permanent mind damage from 4+ traumas. so rack em up.

Full Setting Description

"Go then, there are other worlds than these"

The Dark Tower is the center of all creation. It is said to be Gan's body, and is held up by six Beams of great size and length, visible only by their effects on the lands along their lines - such as patterns in the clouds. At each end of the Beams, there is a portal, for a total of twelve. Each portal is protected by a guardian animal. Across the infinite number of worlds, the Tower can only be entered in this one.

The supernatural, the mundane and god-like immortals all call this place home. Whether they reside in the crumbling In-World, where civilization breathes it's final breath and The World Has Moved On; Or Mid-World where doors to other worlds stand upon empty beaches and millenia old technology refuses to die; Or End-World where The Dark Tower lies amidst the ruins of countless failed realities.
