Adelia's Questionnaire

1. What town or city do you live in? Why do you live there instead of anywhere else? Describe your home.

Adelia is currently living in an abandoned circus just outside of Hull, and has been doing so for the past (nearly) 200 years. This is because this is where they originally worked in the 1840s, entertaining all visitors as the ringleader and even going out of the way sometimes to entertain the people of other cities as a parade master. Since the circus shut down and everyone left, Adelia has stayed here and waited for further instructions from their master or even just about anyone willing to give Adelia something to do and a new purpose. Until this happens, Adelia will stay at the circus waiting, completely motionless, waiting for the right time.

2. How do you get your money right now? What do you spend it on?

Currently, Adelia doesn't make money because they haven't worked since the circus unfortunately closed down in the mid 1800s. This means that they have not had the opportunity to make or spend any money because they have spent all of their time in stasis, waiting for their master to come back and give them more orders. Although, if Adelia did have money, they wouldn't really know what to spend it on. Most likely, it would just be whatever would help them carry out whatever current goal they have been given (if any). It doesn't seem like they've had the desire for anything specific (as far as they can tell) so it is unlikely they would spend money for the purpose of their own whims.

3. Describe your Ambition. What are you striving for? How far would you go to achieve this? Would you kill for it? How close to death would you come for it?

Adelia's ambitions are almost entirely based off of the will of others as they were made with the sole purpose of following commands and bringing enjoyment to others. As mentioned, their main command, as they were an important part of the circus they were in, was to maximise joy for the customers. This especially included children who were supposed to be having the times of their lives and Adelia was supposed to make sure that was something that happened. This goal, and just about any goal, is something that Adelia would be willing to die for as they view completing their instructions and fulfilling their purpose as more important than keeping themselves safe. On the flipside, it's unlikely that they would kill as, in most cases, doing so would contradict their goal of bringing happiness and joy. Although, it is possible that they may be willing to kill if there is someone who gets in the way of bringing about this happiness.

4. What was the most defining event of your life (before signing The Contract), and how did it change you?

Link Answered before Adelia's first Contract.

The most defining moment in Adelia's life so far, other than their creation, is when the circus they were the ringleader at completely shut down. This happened because a horrible incident happened in which their creator, and the person who made the circus, was killed. Due to the fact that the others didn't know how Adelia would react to the news, the circus members told them that their creator wasn't dead, just gone for a while. This means that, once the circus disbanded and everyone went their separate ways, Adelia stayed at the circus grounds. They stayed completely motionless, waiting for the right time to activate again once their master returns.

5. Name and briefly describe three people in your life. One must be the person you are closest to.

Master-

Quite a well intentioned man, he wanted to run a circus and bring joy to the masses but didn't have a strong charisma about him so he created his own perfect ringleader with his knowledge of magic and technologies not commonly available on that scale at the time. When creating this puppet, he didn't necessarily ponder too long on the ethics of the situation, believing that there wasn't any chance of his creation being truly sentient. Whether that was an accurate judgement is yet to be seen. Despite this, he was still kind and patient with Adelia despite not believing or at least not really being sure that Adelia is their own person.

Henry-

An orphan child who was picked up by the circus and hired as help in exchange for being taken care of. Henry ended up being the person Adelia was closest to for at least 2 major reasons. For one, their master gave them the instructions to take special care with children which made it so Adelia would go out of their way to help out and give special considerations to Henry. As well as this, Henry was one of the few people at the circus who knew that Adelia wasn't human and didn't judge them for it and while they didn't care about people being judging, it meant that Henry was most likely to go out of their way to talk to them outside of work.
