McKenna René's Questionnaire

1. What town or city do you live in? Why do you live there instead of anywhere else? Describe your home.

I live in Syracuse, It was the farthest I could get without moving out of the country and in a place that I actually liked. Further up north is just filled with desolate wackos. I was able to acquire this lakehouse property fairly easily, I make good money with the bets and award money. It's grown into my own little space and I'm really proud of it. It's sorta hanging off the side of the lake, the erosion we've gotten this year has been rough but I can afford to get it repaired, I also invested in some nice western red cedar, it's great. The actual house is a nice dark red coat, I put some rose bushes out front and I'm just in love with the place. Interior is just full of my own little knick knacks like trophies and certificates of past races. It's nice to have your own space.

2. How do you get your money right now? What do you spend it on?

Most of the money I earn is from sponsorships while racing and a few sponsorships here and there, I've had the opportunity to work with some really great people and they've given me the chance to earn a lot of money from these races. I spend most of the money on certain fun things, fixed a nascar up for personal use, got a nice lakeside home, I buy a few luxury cars here and there when I'm feeling down, I like to pamper my dog Jax a bit so I'll import some high quality stuff here and there, I've been looking to invest in property and start renting out to the less fortunate and I donate a bit of my money to charity. The charity bit is probably just for personal satisfaction.

3. Describe your Ambition. What are you striving for? How far would you go to achieve this? Would you kill for it? How close to death would you come for it?

Everyday while driving to work, I see homeless people. They aren't invisible, they shouldn't be invisible, and they need our help.  It might be a little presumptuous of me to assume they want my help, but with all this money, and being in their shoes once, I feel like a must help them. I'm not an addiction counselor or anything, but I can start by looking for the ones who really want to get better and give them a place to get back on their feet. I feel like I owe my life to the person who did the same for me, And I want to give that same chance to whoever I can now that I'm better off. I never thought I had the chance too until this watch came into my life. If the watch lets me do what I feel like I must, then i'll do it. The jobs I've been on have tested my patience and I've gotten close to WANTING to kill someone, I'm not sure if it's that watch's influence or me just going insane.

4. What was the most defining event of your life (before signing The Contract), and how did it change you?

I was homeless, on the street, using whatever I could get my hands on, and dirt poor. I viewed it as a good life at the time, digging through dumpsters for stuff was always some good fun. I got tired of that life though, I saw a lot of help lines and stuff but it was always so weird to ask for help. Where was I even supposed to start....
After a while I felt brave enough to call, finally got enough quarters for a good conversation on the phone so I gave it a shot. The lady that picked up asked me a few questions and I felt okay, I was okay with her helping me, I was given a place to stay for the night and an agent to move forward. I was about 20 at the time and was glad I could finally get my life in the right direction. After a few years and getting through college, I had a good place for myself. My agent, Laura, decided to invite me out for a good time in buffalo as a celebration. It was one of those cool race tracks that people use recreationally and I thought it was a little dumb but it was sweet of her, she had helped me through some tough times so I couldn't help but say yes. The race though, it gave me that same rush I felt while I was living on the streets. The adrenaline, the feeling that you're all on your own, It was scary.
I loved every second of that race.

5. Name and briefly describe three people in your life. One must be the person you are closest to.

My mates from college, Andrew and Mason. These two chaps helped me out through college to get acclimated and have been there for me in some really tough times. They were studying the same major as I was, Automotive Engineering. Andrew is a scrawny smart ass, but he's the one who was helping me through those tough homework assignments. Mason on the other hand, they were there more emotionally for me, their vibrant way of expressing themselves was what attracted me to them in the first place.
Jax is my cheat pick, he's a good boy, good ol' doggy. He's a silken windhound, very fast, very awesome.
Laura though, she's been with me since the start. When I didn't have my family there, she was there. I am so glad I made that call so many years back. She deserves the world and I try to show her that every day. It's a shame money can't buy happiness, although it can make your life a lot easier.

6. How was your childhood? Who were your parents? What were they like? Did you attend school? If so, did you fit in? If not, why not?

It's a sore spot for me, Childhood was okay, parents were a little handsy and they argued a lot. I don't want to remember their faces, my dad was a immigrant from russia, I think my mom was just interested in that exotic booty and that's how I was made. I did attend school, had to walk there and never had money for lunch but I made it through. Had to drop out to get a job at a McDonalds so I could survive and I was able to get my GED before I got thrown out of the house. I tried to make friends but it only takes so many times that they see your scars that they get creeped out by you. I had one friend, her name was Alex, she was also a bit weird. She let me stay at her house, it was nice to have a friend. We bonded over our shared experiences in life. I never saw her again after I dropped out. I researched a bit online for some nostalgia after I got my GED and I saw a few news headlines. I didn't open my phone for the rest of the night.

7. Have you ever been in love? With who? What happened? If not, why not?

I did once, I loved out of necessity. I was starved for attention and needed human touch to stay sane to a point. Alex gave me that, she needed it too. We were in similar situations, neglectful parents, solo life, no friends. We gave each other an out. My parents and her parents couldn't care enough to look into our relationship. I'm sure if they found out we could have been killed, that's just how my parents were at least. I'm sure if it was Alex's parents, they wouldn't even bat an eye. I miss her, I wish I could have been where I am now to help her.
