Draven Darkwood's Questionnaire

1. What town or city do you live in? Why do you live there instead of anywhere else? Describe your home.

Link Answered before Draven Darkwood's first Contract.

Draven lives in the outskirts of Atlanta in a section mostly comprised of warehouses and other industrial companies, mostly the big corporations but smaller independents in the cracks as well. While his work is a relatively bigger independent steel works facility in the midst of the big corps, he lives in a small warehouse, about the size of a large garage, at the edges of the district. He has lived there most of his life, initially squatting there homeless, until found by his boss and company owner found him and hired him. Eventually he spent the money to buy the location. Having no other aspects of his life, it is full of tools and industrial machinery either bought or made by him. There are a few 3d printers, though they are mainly for making parts for the larger machinery. The human elements of this place are sparse, a bed, a refrigerator, small bathroom (between a half and full in terms of size, no tub only shower), a single desk filled with designs, and a kitchenette.

2. How do you get your money right now? What do you spend it on?

Link Answered before Draven Darkwood's first Contract.

Draven primarily works at "Phoenix and Wyrm" as a CNC machinist. Having worked there since 16, in a official capacity anyway, he has substantial experience and is senior to all but the initial veterans hired at company start. Most of the money gained is spent of manufacturing resources or new machines. He is trying to get a huge breakthrough and design or invention of his own. He has a focus in firearms but also he works on things to advance efficiency in the mechanical elements of machines and accessories. These things can be new belt configurations for conveyors or streamlined designs of core parts to extend their lifetime through minimal maintenance needs. While he has had some success all of them minor.

3. Describe your Ambition. What are you striving for? How far would you go to achieve this? Would you kill for it? How close to death would you come for it?

The craft. The craft is what matters. Draven wants to be the best, not just the best, but a dominator in his field. He wants to make it rich and powerful, it could be weapons, prosthetics, anything he can build, and he can build anything. He knows one field isn't enough, ultimately it will be expand to being the best in another field, and another, and another. In terms of how far he would go, very. He will break himself down and take years off his life to make a masterpiece. He would kill, rare and unlikely circumstance, but he will if his dreams are demanding a blood price to finally achieve them. Death is much the same, burning bright and half as long is still a victory, still a dream fulfilled.

4. What was the most defining event of your life (before signing The Contract), and how did it change you?

Link Answered after Contract 2, Sleepover~!

Being found by his mentor, Kellen James. He was a nobody, truly a nothing. He was homeless, squatting nearby, and wasting away. Mr. James found him and gave him a boost, just a boost. He let him gain everything he has with only laying out some opportunities. He learned what it meant to suffer, a willing kind, one that bring wealth, comfort, and more. Now he is a driven man, if a chronic workaholic. He's a fiend for success. The grind is his tranquility. Mr. James doesn't give him as many opportunities these days, he already is the one of the top workers in his shop and maybe even his field.

5. Name and briefly describe three people in your life. One must be the person you are closest to.

Kellen James:

Tall man, olive skin, black hair, natural messy look. He is a muscular man of Greek descent. He always appears laid back in posture but makes manual labor and precision in work look truly effortless. He is his mentor, his father figure, and the person who taught him to be a person of mental strength and work ethic.

"Old" Zeke Skinner:

Age: unknown, conflicting stories, at least 60s. Physical Description: best be described as a prospector with a monopoly mustache wearing a cowboy hat at all times (even over a hardhat) and self made waist coat (stories of animal killed to make it vary). Skinner was the worker he apprenticed under. His skill, perfection and the steadiest hands on the planet. He learn precision before he even turned 20.

Ms. Bardakcı

Slightly tanned woman from turkey. Always wears her brown hair in a bun that is mostly covered by a classic 50s era hat. Mid 30s, outfit for every workday, always various greens. She is the company HR worker, medical expert, accountant, and has a family member that can do anything else you might need. She is a one woman department that handles everything else around the company outside of the work itself. She helped Draven acquire his shop/residence, and lease machines to him early on. He has a soft spot for her and admires her ability to put her head down and bring prosperity or a game plan to anything across her desk.

6. How was your childhood? Who were your parents? What were they like? Did you attend school? If so, did you fit in? If not, why not?

Link Answered after Contract 3, Savage

Draven was a orphan. He grew up in foster care, bouncing between a few before running away at 12. He was abandoned at birth so he never found knew who his parents were. He did attend school though, up until he turned 16 when he finally dropped out. He was discovered squatting by 17 in a sectioned off space of a old warehouse by his now boss and mentor. He was more or less his father. He fed him and clothed him as well as started helping him adapt to life off the street. His mentor didn't have any other kids so he didn't and doesn't have any other kids. He also never actually adopted him. While they are very father and son in relationship deep down, they never would tell that to each other. Draven got his GED at 18 at which point he immediately started working for his mentor.

7. Have you ever been in love? With who? What happened? If not, why not?

Link Answered after Contract 3, Savage

Draven has never being in any real lasting love. With all his moving from place to place, and extended time on the streets, most people found him invisible. He's gone on several dates in his early 20s, but none ever lasted more than a couple months. He would have liked them to last longer but his workaholic nature makes most relationships fail. He can never really put anything but his work first. Relationships, despite how important he may consider them are at best, tertiary. He is very open to a relationship, perhaps long distance. Maybe he could find someone with a lifestyle similar, otherwise, any love he has will always fail.

8. What are your worst fears? Why?

Link Answered after Contract 3, Savage

Draven's worst fear is his vulnerabilities and weaknesses coming out to others. Despite how long he has been a good member of society, his life on the street has engrained a sense of vigilance and fear of weakness in himself. He has walls up at all times. When threatened they reinforced with aggression and vengeance, but they are masks for his insecurities. Any one who knows about them, if properly motivated, could use that knowledge against him. He both fears and loathes the idea of being used, especially if the knife that coerces him was one in his collection so to speak. He also has a small fear of the larger world, only more so now that he is more aware of supernatural forces at large. He is afraid that the world now works on different logic, that all his skill and talent has no place in a world of full of craziness and gods even. His last significant fear is attachment. It isn't the attachment itself that he fears, it is the possible effects on him a attachment will have. He is afraid that he may lose his drive for power, that his attachment will through his priorities out of focus

9. What is (are) your most prized possession(s)? What makes it (them) so special?

Link Answered after Contract 3, Savage

Draven has few things he cares about but that list is slowly growing. He absolutely prized item, for most of his life, is his gun. It was initially gained from killing a man in self defense when he tried to kill him for the food he had. He managed to fumble around after being beat badly and accidently squeeze the trigger into their gut. It was the first taste of some kind of power he ever had. His home is also very important to him. It is something he hasn't really ever had before and when the HR rep got it for him he considers his house something sacred. It represents peace as opposed to power. Lastly the electric screwdriver he has is important to him. It has the first thing he started working on to practice his skills for modifying gear and is a representation of a guilty pleasure he has (doctor who).

11. Describe a typical morning. How do you get ready to face the world?

Link Answered after Contract 4, Bobasaurus

Draven wakes up, what time that is is mildly erratic due to his workaholic nature and light sleeping habits, but usually sometime early in the morning. He sets any 3d prints to go, saves all projects he current is working on that have the most promise, place those designs on his USB drive and external hard drive and prepare for work. He will make something light but filling to eat for breakfast, usually over easy eggs, 2 pieces of butter and jellied toast, 4 slices of bacon, and mildly cheesy beans. This breakfast is changed on the weekends where it is Greek yogurt, granola, and a protein shake. On days off instead of preparing for work, he will spend a couple hours of plotting and imagining designs and ideas to make a big break. Before he leaves for work, or before he starts his personal work in the morning, he always takes a moment to sit and focus and repeats a mantra he made for himself: "Never fade away, your dreams are worth your bones, your blood is the price of legacy, someone loves us"

12. If you were going somewhere special that you wanted to look your best for, what would you do to prepare? What would you wear? How long would it take you to get ready?

Link Answered after Contract 4, Bobasaurus

Draven's methods would change depending on if it is professional or personal.

Professionally:

He would probably wear his contract outfit, a three piece suit with accompanying pocket watch and tie, all in black. Hair cleaned and moisturized, fingernails cleaned (potentially even manicured), steel toe dress shoes, and a mild cologne. If possible, take the weapons and other equipment as well, you never know. He would take time to alter his appearance too, changing his outfit and appearance only minorly to hide items and his looks, even if only by adding facial hair and changing his hair color and making his mask appear like tattoos and glasses. This would take approximately 3 hours.

Personally:

Of course he would do a full clean, nails, hair, etc., but he wouldn't do to any special lengths like in professional. He would wear a long sleeve button up, and his best jeans, black pants if jeans are too casual. The same mild cologne. If he feels protective towards whatever the nature of the event is, he will also bring his equipment and disguise it just the same if able. This would take approximately 1 hour

13. What will you do for your next birthday?

Link Answered after Contract 4, Bobasaurus

Draven would likely forget until he gets alerted by a work email or something like that. That being said, once he does discover it is his birthday he would likely look for events going on. While he would spend a while doing it, he would almost certainly just do what he always do. He would get a cupcake, or small cheesecake for himself and make a wish on a single candle. After that he will watch a movie, he likes most things so the genre isn't really important. After all is said and done, he will go home and actually do no work. Maybe some design, but not really actionable ones, just wild and whacky ideas.

14. What is your greatest regret?

Link Answered after Contract 5, The Hospital

Draven's greatest regret is omnipresent and constant. He constantly will go back and ponder his actions and think "Why didn't I do my best?". He always sees himself as able to do more and better and every opportunity. The most recent circumstance that he regrets is during the events of his last job at the hospital. He believe that he didn't think enough and acted on instinct when he should have taken a knee and thought it out. It was for that reason he got shot and damaged his spine slightly. He still has the ongoing regret that is a introspective case study, thinking that his affectations and persona are starting to be at the same time fake and too real. Every thing is pretty much centered on the idea that his failings are entirely unacceptable. If he fails, his dreams are stifled. If he fails, people get hurt needlessly. If he fails, everything in his life gets set back by leaps and bounds.

15. What is the nature of your Gifts? Are they inherent potential? Do harbingers just grant your wishes?

Link Answered after Contract 5, The Hospital

Draven's gifts all come from a book. It is a book called "Illuminati Primario Magicae et Artificii", a primer on magic, it's mechanics and art (art here referring to crafting magic into things). It has information from all over the world, in all kinds of languages, from modern to pre-history, and recently discovered to hold hidden meaning and cyphers. He has broken all of the spells into methods and, primarily, math. He is a savant and what he refers to as gnostic science. His primary form of empowerment is taking spells, breaking them down into math and science and finding spells that can be added to (or 'threaded' as he called it) it to create a seamless compounds effect. This can be things that empower himself directly or it can be through the creating of magical technologies, each using the fundamentals of equaling out equations for compatibility. After ever job he gets dreams or letters or otherwise information on where he can look to get books or how to read something to crack the secret on something he is currently working on.
