Dr. Curie lives north of las Vegas working in a nuclear lab as a supervisor. He lives in a small bunker that was originally used in nuclear testing, he purchased it as a hobbyist enjoying the history and the science behind the bunkers. his living space once was filled with dials and meters testing some of the earliest nuclear weapons, now housing the future of nuclear chemistry. This multi-layered concrete tomb has everything you could want, from 5 flights of stairs to exposed wiring. The bunker is essentially anything a nuclear nerd would adore, he even has his own personal lab though some materials may be heavily restricted what he gets his hands on he experiments with.
Dr.Curie works at a nuclear laboratory north west of Las Vegas Nevada, founded by him and two of his college friends he works as a researcher and supervisor of a small team of nuclear chemists and engineers to test and manufacture certain radioactive elements and items. His access to certain restricted chemicals and dangerous materials often comes through this work, allowing him to do some personal experiments on his own time, and often on his own dime, at home. Though that would be considerably a hazard for the company, his status as founder and his eccentric personality often handwaves most concern. His meager salary despite his position is due to his love of nuclear sciences, compared to the other founders his salary is roughly a quarter of what it could be, the funding being re routed back into the company.
Though it may seem impossible, Dr.Curie wants do discover a new stable element. Only in theory such a thing could exist an element much deeper in the periodic table, his eventual discovery of a new element, just like his great great grandmother. He knows that the amount of money, luck, and resources to obtain such a thing are astronomical, so he turned to something greater, Magic, he knows that the existence of magic is real, not as something inexplicable but as something to study, a new branch of true sciences that will lead him to his goal of making something so astronomically rare a reality. He is well adjusted, though if it came to it he would not lose sleep over killing for it, before his lab job he worked in power generation, he learned that sometimes the safety of the greater good outweighs the lives of the few. even learning marksmanship from the head guard at the facility.
Dr. Curie didn't get the name Ghoul for no reason, his social life was forever altered once he fell into a pool of deuterium infused water, an ever so mildly radioactive liquid that is literally safe to drink. His light radioactivity has earned him his wonderful nickname, Dr. Ghoul, though this would be alarming to any normal person his carefree attitude and relatively tough demeanor made him shrug off the effects. His infatuation with his own personal radiobiology is what drives him to discover more in the contracts and eventually discover more and more about a new field of radiological studies.
Danny Dakanovich, a friend from college that started his chemical laboratory, he works in the acquisitions and stock, his current status in the company is often used by James to obtain chemicals for his personal laboratory and also allows him to get faster fulfillment on his section in the company
Marco Samson, his childhood best friend who he gave a job at his laboratory, he works the front desk as a secretary and is the closest to him personally. He is often slacking at his job but because most of the contracts James fulfills are ongoing he does not need to do too much at the company.
Peter Martin, a nuclear physicist working with James who gave him the nickname Dr. Ghoul. Though he is James's senior in both experience and age he still works under James as he believes in similar values as him. He often times handles some lab items that are more on the volatile side often the first to respond to nuclear contracts.
James was a lovely child, often given the praise of parents. Though he was often a class clown his childhood was quite good, his schooling was interesting however. He excelled in the sciences taking to them like a fish to water, his voracious learning habits made him an excellent student, if he liked your class that is. His primary fall was in philosophy classes, his considerable detachment from the value of a human life was often the point of contention in his papers. His ideals of a person only holds value as long as they strive to better themselves or something greater and anyone outside of that is barely a person had him actively removed from his philosophy class. He continued his schooling into college, taking nuclear chemistry as he always found it amazing for the power of the atom. He struggled with some things in college often clashing with his peers on things he was knowledgeable on but otherwise he was quite the model student.
He has had a love before, a woman named Mary, they dated for 3 years in college before becoming engaged after his graduation. He worked with her for several years maintaining his relationship with her even with his work. This changed once he found out she was engaged in conspiracy theories, not just simple hoaxes but entirely convinced about things like faked moon landings, fluoride mind control and existence of some thing called harbingers a fickle and horrible god. He broke off the engagement after she tried attacking him for trying to disprove them, his current status with her is a tightly worded restraining order.
