Roy McCoy lives in the small town of Ironside in Oregon, U.S.A.
His parents have a farm on the eastern edge of Ironside and he was born and raised on it. Due to the town being filled with common folk who help each other out whenever they can, he grew close to the living style.
As a young adult he moved to the nearest city, which is Boise in Idaho, to live the American dream by working himself up from nothing. The harsh reality and the shitty people put him in his place rather quick and after only half a year he moved back into his parents house.
With the time he grew even closer to the town and after his time in the special forces he appreciated the closeness and trust of the citicenz for each other even more.
The helpfullness, loyalty and trusting of the folks keep him there ever since he came back.
Roy McCoy earns his money on his parents farm. Whilst his father is a little to old to handle all the stress of a farm life alone, he and a young man from the town do most of it. He also helps out the neighbours. Having a strong physique and some knowledge about the machineries around, Roy is asought after helping hand especially for the elderly and weak. Most compensate him for his troubles with favours of goods they've grown or cultivated. But theres also the people who hand him some money.
Most of the time he spends the money to uphold the property and stock up on supplies for the worst cases like Tornadoes or flood or the innevitable end of society due to nuclear warfare.
Roy McCoy seeks things that might come in handy when the era of nuclear warfare starts.
He not only works a peaceful life on his farm but also seeks after artifacts and mysterious objects that are left behind the strong.
Listening to faint whispers, searching for traces in the wilderness and the internet he seeks out stories about individuals who appear to have some kind of unnatural powers. These powers may range from having slightly to fast reflexes for a human to a scrawny guy or gal being able to lift a car for some seconds. He seeks after them to gather the source of their abilities to achieve survival in the hardest of times.
Whilst he most likely will not kill a contractor or civillian for his artifact, he will definitely kill people who stand in his way of obtaining the artifacts of deceased people or artifacts that have been lost.
Although he would rather live than die, you need to take some risks to achieve greateness... or artifacts and if you die while doing what you love, did you even die?
Definitely but who cares? Obviously not you when your dead!
Joining the army was the best and worst thing that Roy has ever done.
Inside the army he grew from a scrawny teen, who was somewhat living inside his own world, into a buff man who knew the dangers that lurk behind every corner.
As part of the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta he was send out on many missions that shaped his character. His friends died by his side and his foes died by his hands. He has seen things he rather would forget but with that parts of him would also vanish. arts of him who now make him the strong willed and tough man he is today.
Raymond Alastor McCoy is Roy's father and the reason he went to the army in the first place. Raymond is a old, stubborn man who is as good looking as a dirty raisin and as charasmatic as a bear trap. He enlisted his son into the army after Roys failed attempt to make something out of himself in the city.
Wayne Baxter is Roys oldest friend and most trusted associate. Wayne and Roy have gone through thick and thin. Wayne also was inlisted and followed Roys lead through their shared military training until they were split up into different branches. Even though Wayne went into a different departement he had never lost his contact to Roy. And even after both returned from their service stood Wayne besides his best of friends.
Maya Brooks is to Roy the wife hell never have. Whenever he looses his focus and imagines himself growing old peacefully, he imagines himself with Maya. She is married and has three kids but for Roy she is a lost love. They still are close friends as they are since their shared shooldays but for him the friendship is filled with longing and sorrow.
