He is 38 years old, lives in The wilderness, wherever last he worked., and often appears as Antlered, stocky, lesioned, with red eyes and scarred skin. Tribal clothing with animal furs visible beneath the layers, and sturdy boots. Braided hair & beard laced with ornamental beads.

    Nanook, the Ijiraq

    The Inuit people wait for a child to show the characteristics that befit their name. This is in tandem with a surname, something that nowadays is necessary to satisfy the government's reach over the most southern peoples. Nanook had a surname, once, but the sprouting young man grew out of it - the only name that could capture the breadth of the hulking giant was his own - walking quietly, then thundering forwards with a roar.

    Their people rejoiced, for Nanook was gentle, and the strength of the next generation of men put calm in their mothers. All except his own, who would see Nanook stir after electricity was turned off for the long night. Watched him stalk out the door, and walk into the wastes. Saw the hunger in his eyes. Knew that thing was not her son. But if she was not its mother, who would be?

    He holds her hand, and her eyes have not opened for hours. Her hand is cold, and her words are with him.

    "Leave this place, Ijiraq."

    "Save our people. Let the crystal carpets cover the seas, the seas teem with meat and blessings, and the Inupiat find harmony among them."

    He grunts and descends the steps of their house with heavy footfalls. South, he would go south.
