Circumstances

Circumstances describe your situation.

Examples include enemies, wealth, notoriety, social status, contacts, fame, and imprisonment.

Because each Playgroup has its own setting, Circumstances record the Playgroup they were acquired in.

Finances: Comfortable
From Assets and Liabilities
Your finances are in-order, and you can afford to spare some for your Contracting. You have access to $35,000 (or equivalent currency) per Contract.

Conditions

Conditions describe your state of being.

Examples of Conditions include curses, diseases, and impactful personality quirks.

Conditions are granted by Assets and Liabilities or by GMs based on the events of Contracts and Downtime activities like Moves, and Loose Ends.

Because Conditions may have GM-created systems, they also record the Playgroup they were acquired in.

Loose Ends

Loose Ends will cause problems for you if you don't tie them up.

Examples of Loose Ends include enemies, debts, evidence, and promises.

All Loose Ends have a Cutoff that counts down each time you attend a Contract. When it hits zero, the Threat of your Loose End manifests, causing issues for your Contractor.

You cannot see the current values of your Loose Ends' Cutoffs, but you can take initiative and make Moves on your Downtimes to deal with them before time runs out.

Biography

Floyd Tarlton was young when he first started learning the mystic arts. At age 8, he was taught about athame, altars, invoking the four elements and paying them tribute, how to handwrite his book of shadows, et cetera. At the time, all of it was your basic charlatan teachings, but it laid a foundation for what he would learn later. At age 13 his family started teaching him real magic, the mystic arts of the Blue Flame. The first time he ever cast the Restorative Ceremony of Aradia successfully he was 16 and it turned all of his hair bright blue. To this day when he casts any Blue Flame magic his already blue hair becomes florescent.

Luckily as he grew up blue hair became a fashion statement, and his metaphysical teachings lent themselves to philosophical studies quite well. He wasn't able to study his mystic arts in college as much as he did in high school, but he has returned to the arts since finishing his dissertation and starting his career as an associate professor of philosophy at the University of Portland.
