Legendary Artifact

Ambergris

Created and held by Billy Chance.
A flame spirit made from a little of Billy's phoenix fire. Briefly stolen, but returned at last.

Ambergris is a once living horse empowered by Billy's fire, and either takes its original form, a flaming horse, or that given to it by Tommy Morse, a motorcycle with an explosive exhaust.

This Artifact can be used as a motorcycle or horse. It is roughly the same size as a motorcycle or horse but can be collapsed into a whistle and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

This motorcycle or horse has flaming accents and a malleable form. Any roll to pilot this vehicle receives +2 dice.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Afterburner: Your vehicle has a 25% faster top speed and you may Exert your Mind to accelerate to its top speed in a single Round.
  • Daredevil: Damage you and your passengers take from vehicle collisions is halved (rounded up) and the result is limited to a maximum of 5.
  • Mind of its Own: This vehicle can move and take Actions without you driving it. It has seven dice for all Drive rolls.
  • No Muffler: Any stealth rolls made to hide your vehicle automatically fail, and any rolls made to notice your vehicle automatically succeed.

This item is a living thing. It counts as a Creature when targeted. If destroyed or abandoned for more than two days, it dies and becomes unusable.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded.

Space Saber

Created and held by Test.
The Saber is an honest-to-god Lightsaber who'se hilt is about the size of a 4" hydroflask, bears carvings and markings on it, and has a singular button which triggers the blade on & off. The blade itself is an impossible temperature: more than enough to cut through any known material to man, and the hilt itself, is made out of a material unknown to man. The Space seems to intuitively sense whether or not it's user is a Jedi, or a Sith, and will glow red, or blue, accordingly.

As long as one holds the Space Saber: they may exert their force of will apon the very gravity that governs the world.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

You can interact with things that are within 75 feet without needing to physically touch them or be near them. Any rolls made for Actions taken in this way use a Mental Strength of 6 in place of your Brawn rating, a Mental Agility of 6 in place of your Dexterity, and otherwise use your own Attributes and Abilities.

Telekinetic actions have the following restrictions and behaviors:

  • Line of Sight: You may use this Effect on targets which are out of sight, provided you have an understanding of their location.
  • Unarmed Combat: You can use this Effect to deal damage through unarmed attacks, grapples, and thrown objects. Attacks deal +1 Damage. Unarmed Mastery does not apply.
  • Weapons: You are able to effectively wield weapons to Attack, Defend, and Clash with this Effect.
  • Fine Tools: You are otherwise limited to actions that a normal human could do with their bare hands.
  • Maintaining Focus: You must maintain Concentration while taking Actions in this way. If you are Injured or interrupted, you must roll Mind at Difficulty 9 to maintain Concentration. If you fail, you cannot engage in telekinetic actions for the next 6 - Intellect rounds.
  • Levitation: If you are strong enough to lift yourself, you may levitate up to within 75 feet away from the ground. Movement is limited to 5 feet per Round.
  • Multiple Items: You can only interact with one thing or take one Action at a time.

  • Using this Effect on targets which you cannot see will not give you any descriptive information about their location or surroundings, though you will have a sense of whether or not you are “touching” them, or if they bump into something.
  • Any telekinetic actions which interact with Animate targets may require contested rolls at GMs discretion.

Talaria

Created by Kody Creighton, given to Allister Wildheart.
Currently At home.
A pair of grey leather dress shoes with small metal accents on each side of the heel. Steel toe, embossed with wings behind the accents, kevlar laces, and marked with the Creighton logo on the inside.-at fire Hazard not loaned

When in use, the stitches of the shoes heat and melt into each other like molten steel poured into an intricate mold. They swirl with fiery kinetic energy that glows hot before each impact and flows up into small metal wings that unfold from the side accents. Using them is like using stilts; takes some balance and getting used to, so wear a helmet when you're adjusting.

Kody Creighton made these shoes for Jeremy Wesley in exchange for the grant that funded Fire Hazard's creation.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action or Reaction. Select a Location which is at most 75 feet away horizontally or 15 feet away vertically. If you are using this Effect as a Reaction, you must travel at least 10 feet.

You jump to the chosen location. If the landing is precarious, the GM may call for a roll to land safely. You will never take fall damage from successfully landing a jump made with this Effect.

You may activate this Effect while in free-fall, as long as your target Location is a surface on which you can land. You are immune to fall damage.

When you use this Effect as a Reaction to dodge, if you Exert your Mind to activate the Effect, you do not need to roll; your dodge is automatically successful.

  • If you are Encumbered, the maximum range is cut in half. If Encumbrance has reduced your total movement to 0, you cannot activate this Effect.
  • vertical jump height measures to the bottom of your feet, so your total vertical reach is at least a body length greater.
  • Rolls to land safely will generally be Athletics, but GMs may call for a different roll at their discretion if it makes sense for the specific circumstances.
  • You may only use this Effect once per Round of combat, regardless of any Enhancements you have taken.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

The -inator!

Created and held by Test.
This device is a large "Gun" about the size of a police-speed-reader bearing many different digital & analog displays, gauges, and machines, dials, and readers, which are all somewhat impossible to read but yet make perfect sense to... someone. These dials, switches, levers, all when operated correctly: form "modes" of function which the -inator, against everything modern science has come to understand, performs.

The iniator becomes to glue and pulsate with a churning red-energy blast at it's barrel: before promptly firing, and given the correct operations / calibration, results in corrected-cancerous "Healing".

Exert your Mind (unless the target has cancer) and spend 2 Actions. Roll a single D10 as a critical failure check. If you roll a 1, the Effect fails, and you give them, instead, un-reversed fast-acting cancer.. Choose a specific Injury on yourself that has not yet been treated with this Effect and roll Intellect + Technology at Difficulty 6.

If you succeed, the Injury is reduced in Severity by your Outcome. If you reduce its Severity to 0, the Injury is fully healed. Otherwise, it is partially healed and will heal the rest of the way at its natural rate.

This counts as a successful Makeshift Stabilization if the Injury was not already Stabilized; any Battle Scars caused by the Injury will remain.

If your Outcome is greater than the Severity of the Injury you were attempting to treat, you may apply any excess Outcome to other Injuries on yourself.

Anyone who witnesses you during this Effect's activation or for its duration will almost certainly be disturbed to see the inator fire a ray of pure cancer, stimulating cancerous growths and bulbous flesh-melting which very quickly "rolls" and "melds" back into the body to return one to normalcy..

  • When narrating disturbing content, be cognizant of your group's tone and accommodating to those who would like to "fast forward" through the description.
  • Unstabilized wounds do not degenerate during treatment.

The -inator comes with a built in automatic trophy-system: deleting any "bullets", "swords", "javelins", and alike, which would come to cause harm apon it's user... though, sometimes, the distinction between "delete" and "upgrade" are confused.

This Effect activates whenever an object or otherwise construct would cause a injury. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Select a Object or Construct Object within arm's reach no larger than an SUV (4,000 liters). Roll a single D10 as a critical failure check. If you roll a 1, the Effect fails, and you instead, "bolster" or "upgrade" the damaging projectile.. You cannot target objects which are currently in someone else’s possession. Roll Intellect + Technology Difficulty 6. Sapient targets may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 8.

If your Outcome is 4 or higher, the target will be fully and completely destroyed, leaving behind no meaningful remains. If your Outcome is less than 4, the target will be partially damaged, and any attempts to use it will suffer a dice penalty equal to your Outcome.

You may use this Effect to destroy a hunk of material as large as a duffel bag (35 liters), even if it is a part of a larger structure or object.

  • Destroyed targets cannot be repaired, as they do not leave any remains behind.
  • When triggered, the Effect activation resolves immediately after the triggering Action. It is not Reaction speed.
  • The penalty from an object being damaged will stack with itself if a target is hit multiple times, but the object is destroyed when it reaches a total penalty of -4.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Chernobogs chess piece

Created and held by Dr Fritz Krieger.
A King chess piece made from ivory but with a black coloration. it originally belonged to Ivan the terrible before he died of a stroke while playing chess. the reason he died was because of a deal that his victims made with the slavic god of death, darkness and misfortune resulting in his death and this chess piece turning from ivory white to pitch black.

the user touches the chess piece and shadows expand from the point of contact and cover the users hand, the user can then swing their arm to fire a pitch black Needle towards their target that disappears on impact.

When using "not quite flying" the users fires the needle and it stays connected to their arm dragging them along with it until it hits its target, during this the user is coated in a faint veil of shadows

This Artifact produces ephemeral projectiles that can be used as a throwing knife. It is roughly the same size as a throwing knife and just as difficult to conceal.

Attack by rolling Brawn + Athletics, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +3 Weapon Damage. The target's Armor is fully effective against this damage. Attacks

You also gain the following effects:

  • Magic Quiver: Instead of throwing this Artifact, it is an object that produces an endless supply of temporary throwable objects. For example, bracers that allow you to throw ethereal javelins, or a sack of throwing rocks that doesn’t shrink when you withdraw one.
  • Not Quite Flying: You may Exert your Mind and use up your Movement to “follow” any attack using this weapon, traveling right next to its point of impact.
  • Ricochet: You can make a thrown attack against a target behind cover so long as there is at least one exposed pathway to them.

  • Created projectiles last only until they strike their target and cannot be shared or stockpiled.
  • The attack must be the primary form of attack for this weapon.
  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

Whale Pendant

Created and held by Joseph "Joe" von Barish IV.
Silhouette of a whale cut in flat metal

A metal whale pendant the size of a lighter on the surfer necklace. When flying around, the necklace glows and several tiny remora pendants appear on it.

Joe effortlessly detaches the whale pendant and chucks is up into the air. Somehow it continues soaring upwards at an increasing speed, easily out of view. A minute or two later, a massive semi-ridged airship appears above--a living humpback whale with metallic skin that floats as easily in the sky as the ocean.

Up to 14 adult passengers (or the equivalent in weight) can safely ride within Koholā's mouth and peer out through a semi-transparent baleen. Despite the exterior, the interior is an odd-shaped spacious room complete with seating that can be converted into small beds, a kitchenette, a storage room, and a restroom.

This Artifact can be used as a Zeppelin NT blimp. It is roughly the same size as a Zeppelin NT blimp but can be collapsed into metal whale pendant and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

This Zeppelin NT blimp has echolocation, is unusually heavy with thick bubbery walls (3 Armor), and is internally warm/insulated. Any roll to pilot this vehicle receives +2 dice.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Afterburner: Your vehicle has a 25% faster top speed and you may Exert your Mind to accelerate to its top speed in a single Round.
  • Amphibious: Your vehicle may move on land as well as under water at its normal speed. If your vehicle includes an enclosed space, it will function as an airtight, pressurized cockpit.

When targeted, it counts as a Living Creature in addition to its other target types. If destroyed or abandoned for more than two days, it dies and becomes unusable.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded. You cannot expand this Object as an attack.

Stock Legendary Artifacts

The Skeleton Key

At first glance, this appears to be a standard, modern house key made of ivory. A close observer might compliment its skull-shaped head or usual material. No one would suspect it to be one of the Thief's most prized possessions: The Skeleton Key.

Spend an Action.

You may lock, unlock, and/or open any number of doors, locks, or locked targets within arm's reach of you. Cannot be used on Alien technology.

If you successfully operate a lock, you may choose to destroy it, rendering it inoperable.

  • Any door or restraint that is fastened or shut with a mechanism may be considered locked, at the GM's discretion. Can be used on control panels or other electronic locks, but not computer security systems.
  • If you operate a locking mechanism through this Effect which has some other secondary effect (such as the ignition on a car causing the car to start) you may cause that effect as well.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Personal Shield Generator

The device itself is a metal hexagon that is worn on the belt and glows when active.

Expend a point of Battery and spend an Action or Reaction.

You phase out of reality for up to 4 Rounds. During this time, you cannot perceive or affect the outside world or take any Actions. You cannot move. Nothing can interact with you in any way.

When you activate this Effect, you may limit its duration to a period of your choosing. If you are able, you may also end it as a Free Action on your initiative.

You leave a golden glow shaped like yourself at your location.

  • If you use this Effect to dodge as a Reaction, it succeeds without the need for a roll. Cannot be used as a Desperate Defense.
  • You may use your Free Movement on the Round you phase back in, but you cannot take an Action.

This Effect activates whenever you are recorded. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Select a Non-Sapient Object within 20 feet no larger than a duffel bag (35 liters). Roll Perception + Culture Difficulty 6.

If your Outcome is 4 or higher, the target will be completely destroyed and can no longer function, though it may still be repaired. If your Outcome is less than 4, the target will be partially damaged, and any attempts to use it will suffer a dice penalty equal to your Outcome.

Take a Severity-1 Injury and spend one minute. Select a Dead target within arm's reach with at least half its skeletal structure remaining. You must make a Trauma roll when you use this Effect. Its Difficulty cannot be reduced by any means.

Your target rises as an Animate being. The raised creature is totally mindless, with no memory of its past life or hint of its old personality. They cannot communicate. They will follow any command you speak.

The creature lasts for eight hours or until it dies again. It is revived at full health. Any Injuries it had in life are not accounted for when determining its penalties or progression towards re-death, though they may affect its ability to perform certain actions at GM's discretion.

Raised creatures have their Abilities set to the same that they were in life. Their Charisma and Intellect are set to 1, but their Dexterity, Brawn and Perception are the same as they had in life. A raised creature cannot use any Effects.

Destroying one of your zombies requires a called shot to the head or heart. All other Injuries zombies suffer result in Battle Scars only, limiting their mobility and effectiveness in other ways.

Your revived targets deal 2 Weapon Damage with their unarmed attacks.

  • The called shot requires 4 Outcome dealing 4+ Damage or 6 Outcome dealing 2+ Damage.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

The Coffin

"The Coffin" is a black, alligator-skin briefcase made to look like its namesake. The interior is coated in red, quilted leather. It is quite a bit larger on the inside, appearing to stretch backwards like a dark passageway.

This Artifact can be used as a container. It is roughly the same size as a alligator-skin briefcase and just as difficult to conceal. Unless you are storing something commonly found in coffins, this Artifact behaves as its mundane counterpart.

Your alligator-skin briefcase holds 5 times what it normally could. Objects stored inside are weightless.

Living things can be stored in your alligator-skin briefcase. They will have access to anything else inside and may attempt to break free, damaging or destroying the alligator-skin briefcase in the process.

If your alligator-skin briefcase is destroyed, things inside may get out, and it will cease to function until it is repaired.

You may change the type of your container between Contracts.

Only you may open and close the container. Others can still destroy it to get at the contents

  • You cannot change the container's type if you are not in possession of it.
  • There is no cost to use your container.
