Those who attack a being as pure as Terry find themselves regretting their decision, changing their mind mid-attack, and forever abhorring violence.
This Effect activates whenever a target injures Terry, dealing at least a severity-2 Injury or looks upon the injury up close. One per injury. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Select a Sapient or Creature target within 300 feet. “Your target should be intuitively based on the triggering event. Roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6. Affected targets may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 8 with a -3 dice penalty. If they are incapacitated or unconscious, they fail automatically and their Outcome is 0.
If the Contested Outcome is positive, the target takes Mind damage equal to the Contested Outcome. If you deal at least 3 Mind damage, the target will gain a phobia of violence as a Trauma. This Trauma may be removed by Effects or mundane therapy, as normal. Targets that receive a new Trauma are aware that you are interacting with them but they do not view it as an attack or view the resulting Trauma as malicious. If their Trauma is treated, they will be able to see the reality of the situation.
Reaching into their true form, for just a moment, they enter a limb into the shadows and bring forth just a temporary visage of their previous self, torn away from their conciousness to inact chaos on it's own.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Location within 60 feet of you.
You create a hemispherical dome of eldrich body horror originating at the chosen Location, with a radius of 60 feet, and lasting for 5 minutes. The area inside your zone is affected in the following ways:
Anyone who witnesses you during this Effect's activation will almost certainly be disturbed to see Plums body inverts, unnatural bone starts slowly stabbing out of their limbs as the flesh pops and boils into tooth tentacle-like whips, disappearing into the shadows before arising from the abyss to create an area of eldrich monstrosity.
The effect is largely an internal psychological condition that takes place in order to ignore pain and stress.
A powerful enough wielder of Causal Diction may internalize its effects to command the mind and the body to keep operating as normal, even under extreme conditions. This effect can even have boosting effects under certain conditions. The creator's will is truly a force to be reckoned with.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
Your Stress from Injuries and Mind Damage is reduced to 0.
Stress from Injuries acts as a dice bonus instead of penalty.
Possession of this Power grants the following Battle Scar: Tinnitus.
The user is morphed into a creature straight out of lovecraft, manifesting their abilities as tendrils appearing out of their torso.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
You are permanently and visibly transformed: you have octopus eyes and tendrils that reach out from your torso. You are considered to be a Sapient, Living being when targeted. Your Dexterity is increased by 1.
You can squeeze through any cracks and passageways a cat would be able to.
Your body provides you with the functionality of Medical Tools. If used to attack, these "tools" use the same stats as a small knife.
Possession of this Power grants the following Trauma at all times: Any time you see a body, you must roll self-control to recognize them as dead, otherwise begin treating the body as if its still alive.
The Severity of any Injury caused by Fire is increased by 2.
The Crucible's code is intertwined in Devonia's DNA, boosting every aspect of their body, from heightened senses to a stronger and vastly more flexible body, though this does push the limits of their skin quite a bit, leading to their skin constantly stretching over their body, though it does seem to hold well enough against the heavily enlarged internals of Devonia. Their hair tends to vary from black to brown, with specks of red, yellow, and orange dotted beneath. Horns bud just underneath the skin, ready to grow out like thorns on a bush.
You gain the following benefits at all times.
You are permanently and visibly transformed: gaunt Skin stretched over massive amounts of muscle, bone, and nerves. You are considered to be a Sapient, Living being when targeted. Your Brawn is increased by 1, your Dexterity is increased by 1, your Perception is increased by 1, and your Charisma is increased by 1.
While in Forested Area, heat, cold, pressure, radiation, and other native hazards do not affect you. Dangerous local flora and fauna will not bother you unless you give them a reason.
You can squeeze through any cracks and passageways a cat would be able to.
You cannot be mistaken for a normal human. You cannot always use standard human clothes, equipment, vehicles, and facilities, and when you can, you suffer an increased Difficulty.
The Human Bullet builds up speed in his fists, making them insanely deadly weapons.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a target within arm's reach. This Effect cannot be used unless you succeed on a Difficulty 8 Dexterity + Athletics roll and are running at maximum speed. Roll Dexterity + Athletics Difficulty 6. The target may contest by rolling to Dodge or Defend as a Reaction, Difficulty 6.
If the Contested Outcome is positive, the target takes that much Damage plus 12.
You may use this Effect to Defend against any melee, projectile, or firearm Attacks within range or Clash against any Attack targeted at you. Using it to Defend deals no Damage but does not cost Exertion.
Anyone who witnesses you during this Effect's activation will almost certainly be disturbed to see the target likely explodes into viscera.
The Vampire may channel their inner beast and take the form of an animal. It is said they may transform into either a wolf or a bat. If used too often, the Vampire risks losing themselves to their beast forever.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. You must make a Trauma roll when you use this Effect. Its Difficulty cannot be reduced by any means. If you fail or Botch, you receive one Mind Damage and a new Trauma.
You transform into a vampire bat or a wolf until you transform into something else or choose to return to your original form. See the Extended System text for stats.
While transformed, you cannot use any equipment (including Artifacts and Consumables), and you do not have access to any of your Powers. Any equipment you are wearing transforms with you.
Injuries and Wound Level are carried over between forms. However, transforming can never kill you; you merely remain Incapacitated until your Injuries are sufficiently healed.
Possession of this Power grants the following Battle Scar: A disfigured face with bat-like ears.
The doctor is a master at surgical transplantation. As long as they have a donor part, they can replace any permanent, lingering battle scars on their patient. Of course, the transplanted part doesn't always match, and the patient must be careful to follow the doctor's aftercare orders, or the replacement will be rejected.
Exert your Mind and spend a minute. Select a Living target within arm's reach. You must use up a donor body part matching the injured area in order to activate this Effect. Select a Battle Scar on your target to treat.
The treated Battle Scar heals as you finish activating this Effect. If used on a Battle Scar caused by an Unstabilized Injury, that Injury is Stabilized.
You may specify a specific condition that the patient must adhere to. If they break this condition, the treatment is immediately reversed. Record this regimen as a Condition. Lasts until the end of their next Contract or 1 month for non-Contractors.
Healing a Battle Scar in this way leaves behind a mismatched replacement on the target which cannot be healed.
By focusing, the Thief may shroud their hands in shadowy tendrils that seek nearby objects like static-charged hairs. They cast themselves across any surface the Thief touches, acting as anchors that allow the Thief to scale even the sheerest walls.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action.
You may move easily and without a roll in any of the following situations. Lasts 2 hours.
The time-traveler spins the second hand on one of their watches and speeds up until they are a blur.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. You must actively and obviously use a watch to activate this Effect.
Lasts 1 minute. Whenever you use your Movement, after all other calculations, the distance you may travel is doubled.
Outside of Combat, any non-Gift, non-movement Actions you attempt take drastically less time to complete, as long as your personal speed is a factor in the Action. Total time reduction is determined by the GM and capped at 90% (executing the Action takes no less than 1/10th the normal time).
Come one, come all! Stand in amazement and behold as the Fire Eater consumes a flame as if it were cotton candy! Gasp with fright as they breathe a plume of fire a great distance! And yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is quite dangerous.
Exert your Mind (unless you win a coin flip) and spend two Actions performing the following ritual: perform a fire-breathing trick. Select a target within 20 feet which has both fuel and oxygen available (if you are starting a new fire). Roll a single D10 as a critical failure check. If you roll a 1, the Effect fails, and you take a Severity-4 Injury as the fire burns your throat. You must maintain Concentration while activating this Effect, and it fails if you are interrupted.
You may start or extinguish a fire as large as a firepit's fire at your target. Extinguishing a fire does not cost Exertion. You may create or extinguish fires the size of a lighter or candle flame without Exerting your Mind. Your fires require fuel and oxygen in order to continue burning.
Lighting a target on fire deals 4 Damage each Round on your turn, starting in the Round after the one in which they caught fire. This Damage is reduced by Armor, but the target’s Armor rating will be shredded by any Damage dealt, destroying material Armor once it reaches 0.
You may extinguish flames as a Reaction. This does not extend to explosives.
