Actions

Evade by rolling to Defend or Dodge. Your Outcome is "spent" to reduce the Outcome of any incoming attacks until your next Action.
Activate a Power or use an Ability as normal.
Hold your Action by declaring an Action and a triggering event. If the event occurs before your turn on the next Round, you perform the Action.

Reactions

Dodge by rolling Dexterity + Athletics ( dice) Difficulty 6. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's.
Defend with your weapon by rolling its attack roll. Your Outcome is subtracted from the attacker's. Availability depends on weapon match-up (tap/hover).
Clash with the attacker using the same roll you would use to Defend. The higher Outcome (not contested) is treated as the result of a successful, undefended attack roll against the loser.

Desperate Defense

If you have already used your Action, you may Exert your Mind to perform a Reaction. Your next Round's Action receives a -2 dice penalty. You cannot Clash as a Desperate Defense.

Will to Survive

Once per Contract, you may reduce the severity of an incoming Injury up to 4 Severity levels (to a minimum of Severity 4). You take a point of Mind damage and suffer a Major Battle Scar that lingers after the Injury is healed, even with proper Stabilization.

If an attack's Outcome is positive after defense, it results in a new Injury with Severity = Outcome + Weapon damage - Armor

Proper Stabilization

An Outcome of 1 or greater will Stabilize the Injury and stop its degradation.
Complete success (Outcome 4+) puts the Injury on track to heal clean: its Battle Scar heals with it.
Failed attempts can be retried at +1 Difficulty per failure.
On a Botch, the Injury's Severity increases by 1.

Biography

Valentine lived an extremely sheltered life outside of baseball, Their parents only valued their achievements and wanted them to succeed at an impossible level. The one time they let Valentine out of their hawk like vigilance Valentine was able to meet their forever friend, Darlin'. It was during another Baseball game that their parents didn't attend around 13 years of age, Their parents didn't value Valentine's growth and Valentine didn't have a solid mature figure in their life. They often wandered post games instead of stay with their team because their team always ran off to their parents whether they won or lost, Valentine was jealous of that. During one of their post game wandering, Valentine found a vial next to a crashed military van that seemed to be filled with a liquid substance. Valentine pocketed the vial and ran back to their team after hearing approaching sirens. Valentine opened and inspected the vial while going to bed that night but didn't remember the events that unfolded after that. This new unison was a mystery to Valentine for a large majority of their childhood but once they hit eighteen Darlin' started to manifest and have some influence on how Valentine felt. Valentine wanted to pursue Baseball fully with Darlin', It didn't matter what their parents said. Valentine's parents disowned them after Valentine came out to them as non-binary and didn't want to follow the family business, Their parents are two respectable lawyers that didn't want to lose potential and current clients because of the way their child was "acting". Valentine now without a home decided to move into an apartment in a different area of the city and still receives small payments from their parents so they "keep their mouth shut". Valentine chose to go by Valentine because it really spoke to the way they felt in unison with their symbiote, they were meant to be together. Destined for greatness.
