Legendary Artifact

255TE "Lancer" Rife

Created by shady and orphaned.
A metallic disk that, with the press of a button, expands into a futuristic-looking rifle.

The 255TE "Lancer" Rife fires an extremely deadly spike of plasma at its targets. It comes standard with a volume control, allowing the soldier to mute its normally fearsome lightning crack report for stealth missions. When not in use, it can collapse into a small metal disk that can fit into any utility belt.

This Artifact can be used as a rifle. It is roughly the same size as a rifle but can be collapsed into a metallic disk and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Firearms, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +4 Weapon Damage. The target's Armor is fully effective against this Damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Silencer: Shots you fire can be made silent at will.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded. You cannot expand this Object as an attack.
  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.
  • Rifles are +1 Difficulty to use in melee range. Sniper Rifles are +3 Difficulty to use without a tripod or in melee range. Setting up a tripod takes an Action.

Shovel of the Ruined Mind

Created and held by Sasha Thomson.
A grave digging shovel etched in runes all over the shaft, the head of the shovel has been carved to resemble a skull yet remaining it's use when digging. A shovel passed from generation to generation of Necromancers that seeked to defend themselves, holding the shovel for long causes the wielder to slowly distant themselves from humanity and rots the users mind.

When activated the runes of the shovel come to life, glowing bright green as an orb of sickly energy form on it shooting outwards a bolt of black and green energy

Spend an Action. Select a target within 45 feet. Roll Intellect + Occult Difficulty 6. The target may contest by rolling Mind, Difficulty 6.

If the contested Outcome is positive, the target takes that much Damage plus 4. Armor is fully effective against this damage.

You may use this Effect to Defend or Clash in Combat, including against ranged attacks such as firearms.

This effect is applied to the target and all targets within 5 feet. It can “jump” up to 5 times.

This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.

Possession of this Artifact causes the following Trauma to manifest over the course of a day: Anti-Icon : "You have an aversion towards the divine and holy." You must roll self-control in order to enter "holy grounds", similarly, you must roll self-control to not enter a fight or flight response when presented with religious iconography.. If you lose possession of this Artifact, the Trauma heals over the course of the next month.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Automatic Defense Turret Kit

Created and held by Bob Hope.
A small drawstring bag containing the materials for a Automatic Defense Turret

This Advanced Remote Drone Artificial Kit can provide the materials and know-how to create a very advanced, shoulder-mounted turret.

Exert your Mind and spend two Actions performing the following ritual: Assemble a turret from parts. You must maintain Concentration while activating this Effect, and it fails if you are interrupted.

Summon a single Tiny Shoulder-Mounted Turret at your location. They will last until they are destroyed. They are controlled by the GM but will follow any commands you give. This Artifact may have at most 1 minion active at a time.

  • Attacking: Minions can make ranged attacks at targets up to 30 feet away with 5 dice to attack and +1 Damage.
  • Body: Minions have 4 Body.
  • Movement: Minions cannot move.
  • Intelligence: Minions have dog-level intelligence, and cannot communicate back to you. They cannot actively use Equipment.
  • Actions: Minions cannot dodge or Defend. Any Perception checks they make are rolled with 3 dice.

You may only use this Effect once per day.

Reaper's Cloak

Created and held by "Widow" Stryker.
The Reapers Cloak, when gifted, can take the form of the wearer's preferences. In this case, Widow has gone back to her long black leather trench coat.

A reaper is always on the go, and can't always walk around with her signature tools. The cloak of the reaper is the answer. The ferry, the weapon, and the light beacon can always be at the reapers disposal when they are in need.

Spend a Quick Action.

You may withdraw an item from your stash, or add an item that is within 30 feet of you to your stash. You may only stash targets which are not possessed by someone else, and are freestanding and unattached. You may Exert your Mind and spend an Action to stash items in others' possession, but they automatically notice that you stole the item.

You may store Widow's artifacts in your stash, each no larger than something which could fit inside a briefcase (15 liters), and you may store up to 3 things at a time.

You may choose to equip any equipment you withdraw at no additional cost.

  • "Equip" refers to drawing a gun, putting on a piece of armor, etc.
  • Containers which hold multiple things may count as a single item so long as the things within are generally packaged together. For instance, you may stash a clip full of bullets, a medical kit full of medical supplies, or a box of crackers, but you cannot stash a backpack full of miscellaneous equipment.
  • You may only attempt to store Objects which are free-standing and disconnected from other things. The use of this Effect will not allow you to sever any connections holding an Object in place.
  • The Maximum Object Size parameter is intended to roughly capture the weight / size restriction of items and isn’t intended to restrict shape. GM discretion is advised. A human being is level 4 in the Maximum Object Size parameter.

Just as the reaper changes from this world to the next, the cloak of it's station does the same, somethings taking things with it. Incoming blows disappear, or partially slip into the shadow lands, leaving the wearer unharmed.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

You have 6 Armor, which reduces incoming Damage. Armor from multiple sources does not stack.

Your Armor cannot be destroyed, and it always provides a minimum of 2 Armor regardless of any Armor penetration. It cannot be circumvented with Called Shots.

Any time your Armor prevents Damage, your Armor rating is temporarily decreased by 2. Whenever it goes five Rounds without preventing any Damage, it is restored back to its full value.

  • Armor recharging happens automatically and does not require an Action.

A Reaper in training's first tool is her blade, but the thing that truly marks her as a reaper is her cloak. Tailored to fit the reaper, Widow's cloak appears as a hooded Gothic leather trench coat. But just as the cloak signifies you as a reaper, it is also bound to the soul of the reaper.

This Artifact cannot be broken.

Anyone but this Artifact's creator must Exert their Mind to wear this artifact or activate any of its Effects.

This Artifact's creator is always aware of the direction and distance to this Artifact.

This Artifact's creator must have it with them to have restful sleep. They cannot regain Mind or Source while separated from this Artifact.

  • "Cannot be broken" means that damage cannot render the Artifact's Effects unusable, nor can it cease to be used for its primary mundane purpose, if it has one.

Law's Prosthesis

Created and held by Felix Law.
Felix Law's masterfully-crafted prosthetic arm. A shell of cherry wood both covers the indestructable core and supports the peripheral components.

The prosthetic arm's main body. Hundreds of fibrous machines with varying degrees of complexity make up a perfect physical replica of Felix Law's missing bones. Depending on the nature of its actions, the core vents bursts of steam, fires yellow sparks or vibrates like a motor.

Near-futuristic mechanical bonds link the shoulder to the body, while the bicep houses a series of motors that govern the movements of the forearm. Coolant is vented at the wrist in short bursts of steam, and the digits flex noiselessly, controlled by a second series of motors in the knuckles.

In addition to fully replicating the functions of a normal arm, a ring of dynamic pins in the wrist can launch the (detachable) hand at a moment's notice, and recoil the connecting cables just as quickly. Furthermore, each digit on the hand is equipped with a set of silver electrodes that can administer a powerful electric shock when triggered.

The outer casing of wood is fully pressure-treated and finished with fire-retardant wax for an extra degree of protection.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

You gain an additional limb that functions as a standard human arm and hand.

Each additional limb you posses can take one Quick Action per Round without incurring a -2 dice penalty to your main Action. Any Battle Scars that affect or remove your additional limb will heal in a single week.

Your extra appendage can be used to attack in exactly the same manner as a handheld stun gun.

Your extra appendage can stretch to reach an additional 30 feet.

Your extra appendage is not connected to your nervous or circulatory systems, and you will not take damage if it is hit by an attack or destroyed.

  • You may stretch or retract your limbs once per Round on your Initiative.

A dusting of purple glitter is spread across the artifact, enchanting and abjuring it in ways technology could never quite manage.

This Artifact has been upgraded.

This Artifact receives 2 extra dice to all actions taken for its intended use. Attacking with an upgraded weapon grants +2 Weapon Damage instead of additional dice. While it is upgraded, the item cannot be destroyed. Upgraded Armor is shredded by half the normal amount. If it is a piece of Armor, it instead receives half that amount as bonus armor rating, rounded up. If an upgraded shield and armor are both worn, the upgrade bonus does not stack with itself.

Upgraded weapons count as any material your opponent might be particularly vulnerable to. Upgraded Armor cannot be circumvented by called shots. Upgraded Devices do not run out of fuel or energy.

  • "Destroyed" in this context means "prevented from functioning for its primary purpose", so for instance, an upgraded land mine would still explode as normal if triggered, even though it cannot be "destroyed" and a car's windows may still be broken.
  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used. The same is true for extra dice.
  • Extra dice from this Effect do not apply to Gift activation rolls.

Under the thumb's wooden shell rests a Firebird's hollow, jointed rib, still charred and productive. Should the holder take a minute to expose the bone and trace a line of new blood around the affected area, all manner of scar and damage will be set right, regenerated in a hot flash, much like the bird to whom this power is native.

Exert your Mind and spend a minute. Select a Living or Animate target within arm's reach. Select a Battle Scar on your target to treat.

The treated Battle Scar heals as you finish activating this Effect. You may specify a specific condition that the patient must adhere to. If they break this condition, the treatment is immediately reversed. Record this regimen as a Condition.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Under the shoulder, a row of miniature hammers is aimed at the arm's own core. Reserves of a liquid silver compound are connected to each hammer, and in response to physical trauma, flow towards the point of impact.

The liquid, later dubbed "mithril", can redirect a great deal of kinetic energy back into the hammers at any range. The hammers then strike the core, which, indestructible as it is, will absorb every blow.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

You have 4 Armor, which reduces incoming Damage. Armor from multiple sources does not stack.

You may transfer your Armor to another target within 30 feet once per Round as a Free Action. You may transfer it back to yourself at any range.

Your Armor cannot be destroyed, and it always provides a minimum of 2 Armor regardless of any Armor penetration. It cannot be circumvented with Called Shots.

This spike of solid light, encased and strapped to the wrist and forearm, can be driven forward and finessed deep into your target. It precisely cuts through nearly any material with a combination of liquefying heat and sheer percussive force. When not in use, it takes on the form of an elegant silver wristwatch.

An arc of silver projectors are set in a narrow circle behind a series of mirrors and lenses, all encased in a thin fibreglass shell that rests on the forearm. When fully activated, the projectors ignite and a rolling skewer is generated where the beams cross. The hard-light can be refracted internally, driving the skewer directly forward and delivering a resounding percussive blow to a very precise area.

If the bearer wishes to conceal the Pile Bunker, the lenses can fold into themselves under the reoriented projectors. The case then telescopes into the wrist, forming a circular rim, within which a digital representation of the current local time is reflected.

This Artifact can be used as a thrusting sword. It is roughly the same size as a thrusting sword but can be collapsed into a digital wristwatch and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Melee, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +2 Weapon Damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Blade Breaker: If you successfully Defend against a melee attack or if an opponent is unsuccessful at Defending against your melee attack, you may break your opponent's weapon.
  • Lasersaber: Given time, you may demolish any object or wall. To destroy 1 cubic foot of material: spend 1 Action for material demolishable with a crowbar or sledgehammer, and 2 Actions for other materials (like steel).
  • Shredder: If you successfully hit your target, the value of any Armor they are wearing is reduced by 2. For material armor, this penalty lasts until it is repaired. For intrinsic armor, it lasts until the end of Combat and any relevant wound is healed.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded. You cannot expand this Object as an attack.
  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

Pain's Embrace

Created and held by Bankston Battle.

This whip is entirely composed of Bankstons Fur and Werewolf pelt. His large K9's teeth have been weaved into the whip, when this whip bites into a opponent it contorts and constricts forcing them to rip the teeth out. due to the heavy nature of the whip it excels at smashing objects.

This Artifact can be used as a sword / axe. It is roughly the same size as a sword / axe and just as difficult to conceal.

Attack by rolling Brawn + Melee, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +4 Weapon Damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Blade Breaker: If you successfully Defend against a melee attack or if an opponent is unsuccessful at Defending against your melee attack, you may break your opponent's weapon.
  • This melee weapon may extend for a single attack up to 50 feet away. Retracting back into its usable size is a Quick Action.

  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Silencer: Shots you fire can be made silent at will.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded. You cannot expand this Object as an attack.

If your Outcome is 4 or higher, the target will be completely destroyed and can no longer function, though it may still be repaired. If your Outcome is less than 4, the target will be partially damaged, and any attempts to use it will suffer a dice penalty equal to your Outcome.

  • When triggered, the Effect activation resolves immediately after the triggering Action. It is not Reaction speed.
  • The penalty from an object being damaged will stack with itself if a target is hit multiple times, but the object is destroyed when it reaches a total penalty of -4.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

The Airship of Solitude

The airship of solitude is an imposing black blimp. While flying through the air, it is regularly struck by lightning, terrifying those below.

This Artifact can be used as a blimp. It is roughly the same size as a blimp but can be collapsed into a phone-sized canvas cube and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

This blimp has full science laboratory, bullet-proof envelope, and ample parachutes. Any roll to pilot this vehicle receives +2 dice.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Crew of One: You alone may stand in for an entire crew if the vehicle would normally be piloted by more than one.
  • Mind of its Own: This vehicle can move and take Actions without you driving it. It has seven dice for all Drive rolls.
  • No Muffler: Any stealth rolls made to hide your vehicle automatically fail, and any rolls made to notice your vehicle automatically succeed.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded. You cannot expand this Object as an attack.

Personal Shield Generator

The device itself is a metal hexagon that is worn on the belt and glows when active.

Expend a point of Battery and spend an Action or Reaction.

You phase out of reality for up to 4 Rounds. During this time, you cannot perceive or affect the outside world or take any Actions. You cannot move. Nothing can interact with you in any way.

When you activate this Effect, you may limit its duration to a period of your choosing. If you are able, you may also end it as a Free Action on your initiative.

You leave a golden glow shaped like yourself at your location.

  • If you use this Effect to dodge as a Reaction, it succeeds without the need for a roll. Cannot be used as a Desperate Defense.
  • You may use your Free Movement on the Round you phase back in, but you cannot take an Action.

This Artifact can change its appearance. When not transformed, it is roughly the same size as a passport and just as difficult to conceal.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. This Artifact changes its appearance into an Object within the category of forms of identification. This lasts until you decide to end the Effect, which may be done as a Free Action.

The new object's appearance can mimic specific items (such as a particular painting, a certain person’s ID, etc), but must be of a similar size and weight to this Artifact.

The new appearance is illusory; it will hold up to scrutiny, but its composition is not altered and it gains no new functionality. Any attempt to use it for a function which it cannot perform (for instance, making bread look like a knife and then trying to stab someone) will cause the illusion to fail or allow a Perception check to see through the illusion, at the GM's discretion.
