Anyone who witnesses you during this Effect's activation will almost certainly be disturbed to see reality seems to ebb and twist, space pulled taught like a rubber band ready to pop. Equally uncomfortable as it is unsettling, whatever this is, it seems dangerous and wrong..

Charlatans

Nowadays you can't go a day without some phony prophet trying to peddle their wares to you.
Driven by the increased interest in the supernatural, charlatans from palm readers to televangelists are everywhere. And while the vast majority of witches, psychics, magicians, hypnotists, cures, potions, faith healers, and clairvoyants are complete fakes, they do make a living.
As the saying goes, "it's easier for an actor to make it in alternative medicine than Hollywood."
Most people scoff at these clearly-phony supernatural services, yet those same people often buy into at least one scam.
The most dangerous charlatans are the self-styled monster hunters who carry a mall-ninja arsenal and guns with silver bullets. Most have never encountered anything supernatural and do absolutely nothing besides burn some sage and patrol the area for a night or two. Even so, those who are superstitious, fearful, or desperate enough will hire them to solve the problems they simply don't understand. In some cases with disastrous results.
For Contractors, charlatans are red herrings and obstacles. Clumsy fakes that conjure a smokescreen of misinformation and escalate the situations they're in.

This Gift's level is capped at 2 Gifts and cannot be increased further.

Watchman's Way
See through the Night Sun's eye.
You enter a meditative state as you drift off to sleep. In your dreams you find yourself in a nearby locale, and may move imperceptibly in both time and space to a limited degree.
While you are in this space, your surroundings are misty and ethereal, and may behave in a dreamlike, disjointed manner. However, you are able to perceive things your waking senses could not. With some creative interpretation, you can use this information to discern who and what has travelled through this area and when, potentially picking up useful trails or clues. While this is the gift's primary function, it is also as a side effect particularly sensitive to supernatural or alien energies or effects, allowing you to potentially perceive them.
While you dream, your material body behaves exactly as it would during mundane sleep. You are exactly as vulnerable as usual and may be woken by any especially loud sound or contact.
Exert your Mind and spend a half hour. Investigate an area with a radius of up to 500 feet This Effect cannot be used unless you are asleep. At the end of your investigation, roll Perception + Investigation at Difficulty 6.
You learn the following information about the area:
- You can locate the source of any Alien energy or the presence of any Alien effects on the area. Specific information about the function of these effects beyond their general type is not forthcoming.
- You learn how heavily trafficked the area is, what sorts of Animate beings have moved through the area and when.
You cannot investigate the same area more than once per day.
- You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
- Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.
Map access
Mini maps are a must have!
Using a map, Luminous can pull up a full proper minimap, showing the location of allies, enemy and the likes, and any possible places with a sub quest, special items, and what not!
Spend a minute. Investigate an area with a radius of up to 100 feet You must actively and obviously use A Map to activate this Effect. You must make a Trauma roll when you use this Effect. Its Difficulty cannot be reduced by any means. At the end of your investigation, roll Intellect + Occult at Difficulty 6.

- You can locate the source of any Alien energy or the presence of any Alien effects on the area. Specific information about the function of these effects beyond their general type is not forthcoming.
- You learn the position of all creatures in range and whether they're neutral, an ally, or a enemy/hostile. (yellow, green, and red respectively)
This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.
You cannot investigate the same area more than once per day.

Ask A Question To The Unknown
To learn the cosmos you must ask a creature that exists outside of it.
The user opens the book to the marked page, which opens to an ever-shifting geometric equation. They must attempt to solve it to draw the shapes and graphs in the bloody ash. Once it is complete, the runes are revealed to be a dark and bloody map, complete with cryptic keys sprinkled nonsensically throughout it.
Expend a point of Battery and spend a minute to activate. Investigate an area with a radius of up to 500 feet You must use up a small jar that is half filled with black ash and half filled with fresh virgin blood in order to activate this Effect. At the end of your investigation, roll Intellect + Science at Difficulty 6.

Set the Scene
The detective pulls out their magnifying glass and investigates the area, learning details about any nearby structures and picking up details on what sorts of beings have passed through and when.
