Average Joe Alone in the crowd

You possess an ability to partially hide from sight.
Used by Andrew Guy, Created by shotgunwizard22.

Andrew Guy is so plain and unimpressive that sometimes he slips into a haze of averageness that makes him extremely difficult to notice.

You gain the following benefits at all times.

You and any clothes or equipment you are wearing are partially obscured from sight. All attempts to detect you using sight are rolled at a -3 dice penalty.

You only remain obscured while you are standing still; moving or taking actions will suspend the Effect for a Round. When the Effect ends, it is disabled for 1 hour.

  • GMs should use their discretion when determining the exact impacts of this Effect, particularly in conjunction with environmental factors. Standing still against a complex background may render you impossible to detect, and footprints in snow may make it easy. A chance to detect you is not guaranteed.

Community Power Gifts

The user opens the leather journal and points at the creature as their species and location becomes written on the journal along with the current time and a ??? indicating when the possession will end, when it's finished being written the shadow of the user and the creature will merge to create a patch of darkness that slowly becomes material and begins restraining the creature with fully physical tendrils. These tendrils bind the creature to the ground as the user is pushed into a fit of vomiting out blackish slime and blood. As more of the substance leaves the body the more the user becomes lethargic until the point of unconsciousness. The substance then merges into one full blob and enters the creature's body through their mouth at which point they're fully taken over by the user.

Spend an Action to activate. Select a Creature target within 20 feet. You must actively and obviously use A leather journal to activate this Effect.

You possess your target and have control over their actions for the next hour. Your original body will be left behind, unconscious, in its same location. You may spend a Committed Action to end the possession early.

Stats: Any actions you take will use the possessed creature’s Brawn, Dexterity, and Perception, but use your own Charisma, Intellect, and Abilities.

Gifts: You do not have access to any Gifts while you are possessing your target.

Death: If the host becomes incapacitated or is destroyed, you are forcibly evicted back into your own body. If the possession ends and your original body was killed or destroyed in some way, you will die.

Eviction: You cannot force your host to take actions which would violate their instinct for self-preservation (which includes engaging in Combat for any purpose other than self-defense or natural hunting); any attempt to do so will sever the connection and send you back into your own body. If you are forced out of the target's body prematurely, you must make a Trauma roll.

Anyone who witnesses you during this Effect's activation will almost certainly be disturbed to see you forcefully restraining a creature with inky black tendrils, vomiting out your own slimy spirit out and inserting it into the creature.

This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.

  • When narrating disturbing content, be cognizant of your group's tone and accommodating to those who would like to "fast forward" through the description.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

Cleatus takes a good look at the lock in question as if pondering some invisible angles on it, then. Puts his foot against it and slams his boot into it, causing it to turn even if the lock wouldn't normally operate with such an interaction as the door or mechanism turns immediately and violently in response to the force, activating and unlocking in defiance of all that is holy and logical.

Spend an Action to activate. Select a door, lock, or locked target within arm's reach. Cannot be used on Alien technology. You must actively and obviously use A boot to activate this Effect.

You may lock, unlock, and/or open your target.

This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.

  • Any door or restraint that is fastened or shut with a mechanism may be considered locked, at the GM's discretion. Can be used on control panels or other electronic locks, but not computer security systems.
  • If you operate a locking mechanism through this Effect which has some other secondary effect (such as the ignition on a car causing the car to start) you may cause that effect as well.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

Intrusive thoughts. The nattering, unwanted, whispers that lay at the edge of your mind. An excellent tool for delivering clandestine whispers for a novice telepath, though not strictly a Kitsune's strength Leon has come to realize that it is a talent that he needs to develop. Though all Kitsune are psychic to a degree, Leon's particular talents require quite a bit of a mental push, and he can only send a few short whispers but he can send them anywhere to anyone. After all, it only took a few sweet nothings to undo Troy.

Take a Severity-1 Injury and spend an Action to activate. Select a target any distance away from you. You must have a specific target in mind, but you require only an intuitive understanding of them, such as their name, face, or Location.

You may send a single message to your target. It cannot be longer or more complex than a couple short sentences.

The message will only be perceived by the intended recipient. You must share a common language for your target to understand the message.

This Effect is not obvious, and the only sign you are using an Effect is Leon develops a small nosebleed. If someone suspects that an Effect was used, they must roll Perception + Alertness, Difficulty 8 to pick up on your Tell.

  • Receiving a message does not force a target to pay attention to you, and they can feel free to ignore your message if they choose. Depending on the flavor of your Gift, they may or may not be able to return to it and read it later on.
  • Generally you cannot communicate with Contractors who are not in a Contract with you.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

Andrew Guy's form goes blurry around the edges, it becomes hard to focus on him, and suddenly, he appears to be standing elsewhere, as if he was always there.

Andrew is such an insignificant component of the universe that sometimes, errors occur, shifting his position in space to somewhere nearby as if he was always there.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. Select a Location which is at most 50 feet away horizontally or 10 feet away vertically. Roll a single d10, Difficulty 4. If you fail or botch, the Effect fails and you cannot activate it again for an hour.

You jump to the chosen location. If the landing is precarious, the GM may call for a roll to land safely. You will never take fall damage from successfully landing a jump made with this Effect.

Instead of physically passing through the air, you are teleported directly to your destination. Does not allow you to go through walls.

  • If this Effect fails due to the Unreliable check, you must still pay any associated activation costs.
  • If you are Encumbered, the maximum range is cut in half. If Encumbrance has reduced your total movement to 0, you cannot activate this Effect.
  • Rolls to land safely will generally be Athletics, but GMs may call for a different roll at their discretion if it makes sense for the specific circumstances.
  • You must be on a surface of some kind in order to activate this effect; it cannot be activated while in mid-air.
  • You may only use this Effect once per round of combat, regardless of any enhancements you have taken.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

Mako's blood with congeal and clot faster than before,

The Priest can channel their true faith in the Lord into a brutal assault on the consciousness of demonic or unholy creatures. By wielding his favored holy symbol, a gilded crucifix, they can put a proper fear of God into them, leaving them cowering at any truly holy things they encounter. Brandishing his crucifix in this way wreathes his entire body in a warm golden glow.

Exert your Mind (unless you have been recently attacked by your target) and spend an Action to activate. Select a Sapient target within 20 feet. This Effect cannot be used unless the target is an undead or demonic being. You must actively and obviously use an ornate gilded cross to activate this Effect. Roll Charisma + Occult at Difficulty 6. Affected targets may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 8 with a -3 dice penalty. If they are incapacitated or unconscious, they fail automatically and their Outcome is 0.

If the Contested Outcome is positive, the target takes Mind damage equal to the Contested Outcome. If you deal at least 3 Mind damage, the target will gain Fear of Holy Things as a Trauma. This trauma may be removed by Effects or mundane therapy as per normal rules. Affected targets are aware that they are being attacked and can generally tell who did it.

The Lord protects The Priest from evil. They are bathed in a glowing golden aura of Faith, marking them as one of the Lord's servants to any with knowledge of such things. Any attacks are slowed by their aura of Faith, often failing to reach them at all.

Doc puts his hands on you and begins to mutter to himself in french. The effect is instant and horrible. You begin to remember all of the sins of your past, all the ways that you've wronged those who loved you. All of the terrible, evil things you've done on these contracts in order to survive. Doc seems to be in the grips of similar memories, tears running down his chin and dripping onto his hands that are pressed tightly against you. At the point where your mind feels like it's about to break, it's over. Just as quickly as it began. You feel your wounds begin to close.

Exert your Mind and spend 1 minute to activate. Select a Living target within arm's reach. Make a Trauma roll when you activate this Effect. Your target must make a Trauma roll when you activate this Effect. Choose a specific Injury on your target that has not yet been treated with this Effect and roll Charisma + Medicine at Difficulty 6.

If you succeed, the Injury is reduced in Severity by your Outcome. If you reduce its Severity to 0, the Injury is fully healed. Otherwise, it is partially healed and will heal the rest of the way at its natural rate.

This counts as a successful Makeshift Stabilization if the Injury was not already Stabilized; any Battle Scars caused by the Injury will remain.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

The Android's machinery is unaffected by by mundane diseases, toxins, poisons, or venom. Their synthetic skin, however, is unable to properly emulate the appearance of human skin, leaving you with a pallid complexion.

You gain the following benefits at all times.

You are immune to all non-Alien diseases, poisons, toxins, or drugs, even if modern medicine has no known treatment for them.

There was a time when battlefield medics would race each other to see who could amputate the most limbs in an hour. Often they could be found standing beside a pile of limbs stacked head-high, wiping their blade on their aprons between patients.

These days amputations are rare, but Dr. Freeman believes they should be more common. "An injury separated from one's body is no injury at all," he says, removing a patient's mangled hand with a few practiced hacks. And it's true! Behold a fully-healed stump where once there was a threatening injury.

Exert your Mind and spend 2 Actions to activate. Select a Living target within arm's reach. This Effect cannot be used unless the chosen Injury is on a limb or extremity. This counts as a successful Makeshift Stabilization if the Injury was not already Stabilized; any Battle Scars caused by the Injury will remain.

When you Activate this Effect, roll a single d10. If the result is 5 or lower, your target receives a Minor Battle Scar.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
