It’s a gift, but it’s also a curse. There’s no shutting it off. The city is loud, the crimes are messy, and the truth is always uglier than it seems. When Myles focuses, his mind locks in like a predator hunting its prey—except sometimes, what he finds isn’t something he was ready to see.

His hunger for the truth drives him forward, but the things he sees? They linger. They haunt. The screams in the alley, the look in a victim’s eyes, the sickly scent of fear—he can’t forget them, no matter how much he drinks, how many cases he solves, or how hard he tries to drown it all out.

You gain the following benefits at all times.

Your Perception rating is increased by 3. You may Exert your Mind to automatically gain an Outcome of 5 on any roll that uses Perception (Cannot be used on combat rolls or Power activations).

  • Attribute bonuses from multiple sources do not stack. Instead the highest bonus is used.

You gain the following benefits as long as your environment is not overly noisy and you have your cane.

Your Perception rating is increased by 1. You may Exert your Mind to automatically gain an Outcome of 5 on any roll that uses Perception (Cannot be used on combat rolls or Power activations).

If you are witnessed actively using this Effect, whoever sees it can make a Perception + Alertness roll at Difficulty 6. A complete success reveals the source of your power.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Constant Vigilance: You cannot be ambushed or caught-flat footed when awake. When asleep, you can make a Perception + Alertness roll at Difficulty 6 to wake up in time.
  • Saw it Coming: Any time you make a Desperate Defense, you successfully avoid the incoming Attack without making a roll.You do not suffer a dice penalty next Round. You may use Source to make a Desperate Defense.

  • You can still be ambushed if you are incapacitated, stunned, or being kept unconscious supernaturally.
  • If your cane is damaged, destroyed, or lost, you lose all benefits from this Effect for the next two months.

  • Clear-Sighted: If you see an illusion, disguise, or other false reality, you recognize it as such but cannot immediately see through it.
  • Saw it Coming: Any time you attempt to dodge an Attack from someone lower than your position in Initiative, you may Exert your Mind to automatically succeed without a roll. You may use Source to make a Desperate Defense. There is still a maximum of one Desperate Defense per Round.

  • If your Left Eye is damaged, destroyed, or lost, you lose all benefits from this Effect for the next two months.
