The boy said his father was sick, but the Shaman knew better.
"Bring me to him"
The shaman grabbed his Chacapa, his veil, and followed the boy to his home.
"He's in there" The small hand pointed down a dark hallway, light barely edged it's way around the slits in the door frame, desperately trying to escape whatever was held within.
"Stay here child." The shaman patted the boy on his shoulder, and smiled reassuringly.
The boy's father lay spread on the bed, shaking violently, eyes yellow and darting. The shaman accessed the man of a moment, took a long slow breath and began.
The rattle jumped to life in the shaman's loose grip, the rhythmic shaking waving a tapestry out of the chants and hums escaping from behind the red veil. The shaman called out in earnest, in wonder of the spirits that brought this man in his prime to his knees.
After a minute a dark fog filled the mind of the shaman. A creature showed itself. Only for a moment, but that was enough. This was not a spirit that the shaman was familiar with. It was a western demon.
The man in bed turned his head to the shaman. His yellow eyes narrowed as a smirk crawled across his face. "Don't go turnin over rocks if you're scared of a few bugs old man".
The shaman left the room and grabbed the boy on the way out of the house. This was outside his area of expertise. He needed to find a priest. Quickly.
The Shaman uses their leaf rattle to summon spirits out of hiding. This act causes any spirits influencing an individual to reveal their identities to the Shaman.
