Description

Nothing special or fancy about The Magician's pocket watch, but if they swing it back and forth *just so*, they are able to hold someone's rapt attention for several minutes.

System

Creatures that cannot perceive your pocket watch via sight cannot be targeted.

Choose a target within [[range]] who is looking at your pocket watch, begin swinging the watch back and forth, and make a contested Charisma + Performance roll. If successful, the target's full attention is directed at your swinging pocket watch for Outcome in minutes. They automatically fail any roll related to noticing anything other than you.

The effect ends early if the target receives an Injury or enters Combat. It also ends if you are unable to maintain your focus on them at any point during the event.

This does not affect their opinion of you or their mood, and they may take any Action while affected (including attacking), as long as that Action centers on you.

This power has no Exertion cost, but cannot be further improved.


Enhancements

  • Distraction (The target's attention is focused on something other than you. This target is the source of the sensory stimulus required for this Power.)
    • Focus Follows - Pocket watch

  • Cantrip (Activating this Effect has no Exertion cost, but its Gift Cost can never be increased above 2.)
  • Concealed (Using this Effect is not obvious. Choose a Tell that occurs only when you use the Effect; if-- and only if-- someone suspects that a Effect was used, they must roll Perception + Alertness, Difficulty 8 to pick up on your Tell.)
    • Tell - Dangling a watch back and forth in front of someones eyes

Drawbacks

  • Fan Dance (This Effect lasts as long as you maintain Concentration.)
  • Conditional (This Effect is only available when a certain condition is met. This condition must be severe enough that this Gift is unusable the majority of the time.)
    • Condition - Target must be looking directly at the pocket watch
  • Focus (Using this Effect requires a specific kind of item.)
    • Object - Pocket watch
