Bringer of Dread Effigy What the hell is that?

1
The power to set traps that inflame the emotions of others when triggered.
Used by Mothman, Created by Redchigh.
(The trap looks like ________. It can only be spotted as a trap by those with preexisting knowledge of such traps. You must actively and obviously be using up a collection of straight sticks and rope.)

Mothman can use straight twigs and string to create a simple 'doll' left in the woods. (A la the triangle wood things in blair witch)
Creepy on its own, Mothman closes his hands around it. The air around the sculpture vibrates with a tense pressure and fevered pitch, before releasing.

Exert your Mind and spend 30 seconds to place a trap at your current location. This trap lasts until triggered or disarmed. Roll a single D10 as a critical failure check. If you roll a 1, the Effect fails, and you It effects him and anyone around as he sets the trap. You must use up a collection of straight sticks and rope in order to activate this Effect. Roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6.

The trap looks like ________. It can only be spotted as a trap by those with preexisting knowledge of such traps. Anyone who is aware of the trap may intuitively avoid, trigger, or destroy it.

Any Living target that enters within 45 feet will trigger the trap. Affected targets can resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 6.

If you succeed, for the next minute, affected targets will do things they otherwise wouldn’t have done, inspired by Fear. They will not necessarily display their emotions in an obvious way.

Actions they take will be in keeping with their character and the way they tend to deal with strong emotions. They will be unlikely to change their mind about any actions taken or decisions made until after the Effect ends.

Both attacking someone and being attacked will end the Effect.

Your target passes this Effect on to the next person they interact with, so long as that person is a valid target. That person passes it on as well, and so on, with the remaining duration decreasing by half until the chain stops.

  • If you succeed, the target MUST take at least one Action they otherwise would not have. Hey, GM who is reading this, I'm talking to you. You have to enforce this. Remember: Gifts must feel powerful.
  • Multiple traps cannot be placed in the exact same location or be triggered by the same single Action. Nor can one trap triggering cause another to trigger.
  • Trap can only be spotted by someone who has witnessed this particular trap before, has been informed, or possesses relevant supernatural abilities.

A Tempest of Lightning and wind begins to form around you before you're struck by the impact of a descending Storm.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. Select a Location no further than 50 feet from you and in your line of sight. The area within 10 feet of the chosen Location immediately and obviously becomes imminently dangerous. Roll Intellect + Occult at Difficulty 6. Targets inside the radius may attempt an appropriate Reaction at GM’s discretion. Finding a physical barrier to use as cover will cut total damage taken in half (applies after Reaction roll but before Armor).

If the Outcome is positive, your blast hits everything within 10 feet of the chosen Location with Damage equal to your Outcome + 2. Armor is reduced to 1/2, rounded up against this damage.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

Viktor has been raised from the dead. With this he has gained inhuman physical skills and brawling capabilities.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are engaged in unarmed combat.

Your unarmed attacks deal +2 Bonus Damage (instead of -2). The target's Armor is fully effective against this damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Armored Fist: You cannot take damage from attacking a dangerous material (such as steel armor, a spiked carapace, or an acidic blob). You may Clash with or Defend against any melee weapons or arrows.

  • Reminder: Bonus Damage stacks with Weapon Damage, but does not stack with any other Bonus Damage. Instead, the highest Bonus Damage is used.
  • Unlike the Ability Brawl, this Effect does not affect small weapons such as knives.

Carl stares at a target, and perceptive onlookers can notice the vague outline of something huge swimming across his blue irises for an instant. Both his and the target’s eyes, if the target possesses any, flicker green, before both double over in pain. For an important instant, both Carl and the target see a flash of something horrifying.

Carl always sees a fractured, out of context traumatic memory that was repressed by his previous amnestics use. His target sees something awful, but Carl doesn’t know what it is that they see. This scares him. Deeply.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. Select a Sapient target within 20 feet. Make a Trauma roll when you activate this Effect. Affected targets may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 8 with a -3 dice penalty. If they are incapacitated or unconscious, they fail automatically.

If they fail, your target will take 1 point of Mind damage and gain a new Trauma selected by the GM. This trauma may be removed by Effects or mundane therapy as per normal rules. Affected targets are aware that they are being attacked and can generally tell who did it.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

Maddox bursts into a swarm of mice and rats with terrible claws and gnashing teeth.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. Make a Trauma roll when you activate this Effect.

You transform into a swarm of rats for the next minute. You may end the effect early and return to your normal form at will. Your structure must remain relatively contiguous. It is not necessarily obvious that your transformed state is an unusual phenomena or that it is acting with singular purpose.

While in this form, you can squeeze through any gap that a rodent could fit through.

Damage from standard attacks is halved, but damage from AOE effects is increased by 1.

You cannot communicate, use equipment, or use Gifts while transformed. Your equipment does not transform with you beyond basic body coverings. Carrying capacity is unaffected.

Can make an attack at melee range while transformed. Roll Body to attack. The target may contest by dodging or Defending. This attack deals +2 damage.

Bartenders don't just mix drinks, no.. They're therapists, friends, confidants.

The best ones, you walk away feeling like you just had a chat with your best friend.

O'Malley has years of practice, and knows how to make a patron feel comfortable. Full attention, a warm smile, and a twirl of a bottle tends to make people want to open up to him.

You gain the following benefits as long as as long as He must have a passenger and you are piloting any vehicle.

You receive +2 dice to any rolls to pilot a vehicle.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Daredevil: Damage you and your passengers take from vehicle collisions is halved (rounded up) and the result is limited to a maximum of 5.
  • Drive-By: You may drive or pilot your vehicle as a Free Action, without taking any penalty on other Actions.

Driving rugged vehicles in a combat situation is second nature to the Soldier. They measure their shots and navigate obstacles with a subtle timing that doesn't affect the steadiness of their own or their passengers' weapons. Firing a few shots through the windshield or window while performing dangerous driving maneuvers is also no problem.

You gain the following benefits as long as Must be driving a rugged vehicle such as an SUV truck or armored car. and you are piloting any vehicle.

You receive +2 dice to any rolls to pilot a vehicle.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Drive-By: You may drive or pilot your vehicle as a Free Action, without taking any penalty on other Actions.
  • Steady As She Goes: The motion of vehicles you are piloting never causes your passengers dice penalties, and you do not suffer dice penalties from the unsteadiness of any vehicle you are riding in.

The Ranger is adept at following their quarry through any terrain. Once they find a recent track, they may focus their will to illuminate the trail of their target. Any part of the target's trail within eyeshot glows a bright, misty green. Even the trails made by vehicles the target was riding in are illuminated.

Exert your Mind to activate. Select a Sapient target at any range. Activation requires possession of the target's fresh tracks, which is used up during the process. At the end of your investigation, roll Perception + Survival at Difficulty 6.

You learn all the following information about your target:

  • You may follow the target's trail, no matter where or how they have traveled, so long as the trail is less than a day old.

The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.

Any information you gather is revealed by illuminating the trail in a glowing light and made publicly available.

  • Tracker You are not made instantly aware of where they have been in the past 24 hours; you must follow their trail. You may "happen upon" any trail they have made in the past 24 hours.

The Priest's miracles have expanded into the treatment and curing of poisons and diseases. To do so, however, they require a ceremonial dedication (or often re-dedication) to the service of God, during which The Priest and the patient pray together and perform some ritualistic bloodletting. The bloodletting wounds burn with holy, golden fire, attacking the sinful disease or poison and expelling it from the body.

Exert your Mind and spend 15 minutes to activate. Select a Living target within arm's reach. You cannot target yourself. Your target takes a Severity 1 Injury. You must actively and obviously use a ceremonial dagger blessed with holy water to activate this Effect.

You may cure any any number of diseases or poisons afflicting your target even if you have not diagnosed or fully understood them. You may cure diseases or poisons even if they are not treatable through modern medicine. During treatment, the malady you are treating does not progress or cause additional damage or other effects.

  • Without some sort of diagnostic Effect, “fully diagnosing” a disease or poison will always require a roll of some sort, frequently Intellect + Medicine, but the specific roll and difficulty is at GM’s discretion.

The Psychic can, with great focus and mental strain, channel their will and energy to cause objects to move about.

You gain the following benefits at all times.

You can interact with things that are within 75 feet without needing to physically touch them or be near them. Any rolls made for Actions taken in this way use a Mental Strength of 2 in place of your Brawn rating, a Mental Agility of 2 in place of your Dexterity, and otherwise use your own Attributes and Abilities.

Telekinetic actions have the following restrictions and behaviors:

  • Reactions: You cannot use a Reaction telekinetically.
  • Multiple Items: You can only interact with one thing or take one action at a time.
  • Line of Sight: You must be able to visually observe anything you interact with, and any actions that you are taking will end if their target moves out of sight.
  • Unarmed Combat: You cannot deal damage through unarmed combat or thrown objects with this Effect, though you may still grapple with targets.
  • Weapons: You cannot wield weapons effectively in combat.
  • Fine Tools: You are otherwise limited to actions that a normal human could do with their bare hands.
  • Maintaining Focus: You must maintain Concentration while taking Actions in this way. If you are Injured or interrupted, you must roll Mind at Difficulty 9 to maintain Concentration. If you fail, you cannot engage in telekinetic actions for the next 6 - Intellect rounds.

  • Any telekinetic actions which interact with Animate targets may require contested rolls at GMs discretion.
