Walking Cane

Created and held by Hupert O'driscril.
Its a literal white cane

He plants his cane onto the floor and begins talking to his audience about his experience in Vietnam.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a number of Living targets equal to your Charisma within 45 feet as well as a specific emotion. Roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6. Affected targets can resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 6.

If you succeed, for the next three hours, affected targets will do things they otherwise wouldn’t have done, inspired by the chosen emotion. They will not necessarily display their emotions in an obvious way.

Actions they take will be in keeping with their character and the way they tend to deal with strong emotions. They will be unlikely to change their mind about any actions taken or decisions made until after the Effect ends.

If any affected target takes or deals Damage, this Effect ends.

  • Common emotions and the actions they inspire
    • Anger (shouting, cruelty, denying requests, attacking)
    • Pity (stopping an attack, executing an injured target)
    • Happiness (generosity, dancing, joking, socializing)
    • Sadness (finding solitude, openly crying, demotivation)
    • Fear (running, attacking)
  • If you succeed, the target MUST take at least one Action they otherwise would not have. Hey, GM who is reading this, I'm talking to you. You have to enforce this. Remember: Gifts must feel powerful.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Hupert plants his Cane into the ground and emits a powerful shockwaves that sends people back as he lights himself a cigarette

Spend an Action or Reaction. You must use up Cigarettes in order to activate this Effect.

Create a repulsion field which extends out 45 feet from you in every direction, and lasts for the next 5 Rounds. Any Animate targets within the field cannot move any closer towards you. If they were within 45 feet from you when you activated the effect, they are immediately pushed back to the edge of the repulsion field.

You must maintain Concentration during this Effect.

When you activate this effect, you may designate any number of specific individuals to exclude from the Effect. Anyone designated in this way is unaffected by the repulsion field, and can approach you as normal.

This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.

  • If you use this Effect as a Reaction to dodge, you still need to make a roll to dodge. The Effect will occur regardless of the Outcome of this roll, but if you fail you will be hit by the relevant attack prior to the Effect occurring.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Xeczans

Created and held by Xavier Yi.
It's a black recurve bow with a black and red grip and vien like markings all over it that looks like it carries some sort of liquid.

When drawing the bow, it will split open to form an X shape and start to absorbs energy from its surroundings and condenses it into a ball of pure energy before expelling it in a beam with the shape of an arrow when you release the shot. Those nearby will feel the air start to move in the direction of the energy ball.

Xaczans crash landed on earth in a small meteorite and will seek out the nearest intelligent being to bond with. Other pieces of it were scattered throughout the earth due to the meteor breaking into pieces when entering the atmosphere. The bow absorbs energy from its surroundings and condenses it into a ball of pure energy before expelling it in a beam with the shape of an arrow when you release the shot.

When wielded you will feel a light pulsating effect, almost like a heartbeat. A weird voice will begin speaking to you in an unknown language you can't comprehend.

This Artifact can be used as a bow. It is roughly the same size as a bow but can be collapsed into Pen and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Athletics, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Outcome + 4 Weapon Damage. The target's Armor is fully effective against this damage. Attacks do not require a successful called shot to do damage.

This item is a living thing. It counts as a Creature when targeted. If destroyed or abandoned for more than two days, it dies and becomes unusable.

Possession of this Artifact causes the following Trauma to manifest over the course of a day: You must make a Self Control roll to willingly part with or otherwise be without the item.. If you lose possession of this Artifact, the Trauma heals over the course of the next month.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Infinite Ammo: This weapon never runs out of its standard ammunition.
  • Leave No Trace: Your projectiles crumble or vanish after impact, leaving no meaningful trace of your assault beyond the wounds they leave. If your attack would kill or incapacitate your target, they make no sound, even incidentally, for the next Round.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded.
  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

The Dramatis Personae

Created and held by Paige Price.
A little booklet bound in black leather with the words 'Dramatis Personae' inlaid in silver.

Focused on your target, you hold out The Dramatis Personae as it flips open to a random page, ink writhing across the page to coalesce into a language the holder understands.

Information in the booklet follows the following format:
Name, Aliases, etc ................................................A Role
Name, Aliases, etc ................................................A Role
Name, Aliases, etc ................................................A Role
etc...

Expend a point of Battery and spend 2 Actions. Select a Sapient target within 20 feet. At the end of your investigation, roll Perception + Occult at Difficulty 6.

You learn all the following information about your target:

  • You learn the target's name, nicknames, screen names, and aliases.
  • You learn their 'role' in the current Contract or Move. This might be a relevant occupation like A Mechanic or their purpose in the current context such as A Sacrifice. May potentially reveal a Contractor's archetype or paradigm, whichever is more relevant, when they aren't acting as A Contractor.

The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.

You cannot investigate the same target more than once per day.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

The Purse

Created and held by Penélope Varela.
A large dark leather purse. The inside has various symbols and runes, barely visible against the dyed leather.

When opened by its owner, this item actually accesses the inside of a small pocket of the underworld.

The connection is made using a small piece of the soul of the owner, and tricks reality into thinking it should be taking the owner's soul. If kept too far away from the owner for too long, it will stop functioning - probably dispersing their things throughout the underworld.

This Artifact holds 3 times what it normally could inside of it. Objects stored inside are weightless.

Living things can be stored in this Artifact. They will have access to anything else inside and may attempt to break free, damaging or destroying the Artifact in the process.

If this Artifact is destroyed, things inside may get out, and it will cease to function until it is repaired.

When scanned or investigated without opening, the contents of this container appear normal and unremarkable.

If anyone other than you opens the container, it appears empty. Others can still destroy it to get at the contents.

This item is a living thing. When targeted, it counts as a Living Creature in addition to its other target types. If destroyed or abandoned for more than two days, it dies and becomes unusable.

  • A container of holding cannot be placed inside another created by the same Gift.
  • There is no cost to use this container.

A ritual that involves transposing a part of the owner's soul into the item, such that it always finds its way back to them.

The ritual is done by using the owner's blood to write sigils on and around the item, while chanting a phrase in Latin. Upon completion of the ritual, the owner feels more tired than normal, and wants to sleep with the artifact nearby. If the owner doesn't, they don't feel as if they've truly rested.

This Artifact cannot be broken. If this Artifact is lost and in no one else’s possession, it finds its way back to its true owner during the next Downtime.

By default, the creator of this Artifact is its true owner. The true owner may formally bequeath this Artifact onto another person within arm’s reach, after which they are its true owner. If the true owner dies or is destroyed, their ownership ends. If this Artifact has no true owner, anyone may spend one day attuning to it to become its true owner.

If this Artifact is in no one else’s possession, its true owner may Exert their Mind and spend two Actions to bring it to themselves.

This Artifact's true owner must have it with them to have restful sleep. They cannot regain Mind or Source while separated from this Artifact.

  • "Cannot be broken" means that damage cannot render the Artifact's Effects unusable, nor can it cease to be used for its primary mundane purpose, if it has one.

You plant your feet — low, predatory — and your knees bend like you’re ready to lunge.

Your hands curl slightly, claws flexing out from the fursuit’s gauntlets, and the fur along your shoulders and arms rises sharply, standing on end like a living animal ready to strike.

As you draw in a deep, almost silent breath, the seams of the fursuit stretch over tightened muscle —
you seem to bulk up slightly, not supernatural growth, but like your entire body tenses in perfect readiness.

Then it happens:

You throw your head slightly forward, shoulders rolling, and you roar —
a brutal, guttural blast of sound that isn’t just heard — it hits.

The air distorts in a visible shockwave around your chest and mouth, like a concussive burst.

Spend an Action. Select a target within arm's reach. Roll Charisma + Influence Difficulty 6. The target may contest by rolling to Dodge or Defend as a Reaction, Difficulty 6.

If the Contested Outcome is positive, the target takes that much Damage plus 2.

You may use this Effect to Defend against any melee, projectile, or firearm Attacks within range or Clash against any Attack targeted at you. Using it to Defend deals no Damage but does not cost Exertion.

This Gift cannot have more than 3 Drawbacks, and its Gift Cost is capped at 2.

Instead of dealing Damage all at once, the Injury caused by this Power starts at Severity 1 and worsens at the rate of one level per Round until it reaches the Severity it would have otherwise been.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of Effect. There must be no substantial obstructions between you and your target.

Your fursuit isn’t clothing.
It isn’t armor.
It’s a living body — a second skin of synthetic fur, reinforced hide, and hidden machinery —
grown around you like a biological exoskeleton.

The bulk of it — the Gio frame — forms a core spine inside the fursuit, housing motors, servos, compressed air bladders, and liquid muscle that flexes with your movements.
It wraps around your arms, legs, chest, and back — internal, not external — powering every lunge, every sprint, every leap.

You don’t sit on the machine.
You don’t ride it.
You and it are the same creature.

The fursuit’s paws hide motorized wheels and amphibious drive systems beneath their pads —
letting you run across the land faster than any natural beast,
or dive into water and slice through it like an apex predator,
all while still moving on your own legs.

When you act,
the machine doesn’t respond to commands.
It responds to instincts.

You feel the buzz of artificial muscles tightening under the fake fur, the flex of reinforced ankles pushing you faster, the brief pressure release as internal air systems adjust to keep you balanced at any speed.

When you Roar, when you Track, when you Hunt —
it’s not a fursuit and a machine and a human.
It’s one body, one will, one wolf.

If you abandon it, it doesn’t just shut down —
it withers like a starved beast, curling into itself and dying, because without your soul driving it, it cannot survive.

This Artifact can be used as a Gio All-Season Enclosed Mobility Scooter. It is roughly the same size as a Gio All-Season Enclosed Mobility Scooter and just as difficult to conceal.

This Gio All-Season Enclosed Mobility Scooter has Key Features: • Hidden spring wheels in the thick soles of the feet. • Manual movement still possible (walking, jumping, crouching). • Optional glide mode triggered by a shift in weight or internal button. • Zero visible mechanical parts unless you’re upside down. • Slightly heavier foot padding to hide the hardware.. Any roll to pilot this vehicle receives +2 dice.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Amphibious: Your vehicle may move on land as well as under water at its normal speed. If your vehicle includes an enclosed space, it will function as an airtight, pressurized cockpit.
  • Drive-By: You may drive or pilot your vehicle as a Free Action, without taking any penalty on other Actions.
  • Flying Solo: Your vehicle cannot have any passengers.

This item is a living thing. When targeted, it counts as a Living Creature in addition to its other target types. If destroyed or abandoned for more than two days, it dies and becomes unusable.

When you act,
the fursuit moves with you — seamless, alive —
and your presence rips the center of gravity out of the world.

It isn’t rage.
It isn’t fear.
It’s gravity.

Every motion — the flex of your paws, the slight ripple of your fur, the glint of your gaze —
pulls the senses inward.

To predators, you are a rival too strong to ignore.
To prey, you are the storm on the horizon.
To the lost, you are the guide through the dark.
To the angry, you are the challenge that cannot be resisted.
It doesn’t matter why they fixate — only that they do.

Their eyes lock.
Their minds narrow.
The world collapses into you —
and for a few heartbeats,
you are everything.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action. A number of Sapient, Living targets within 50 feet who can perceive you through no greater than your Charisma rating are affected. Audiences or mobs with a singular focus count as one target. Roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6. All affected targets may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 7.

If you succeed, the targets will keep their full attention focused on you for as long as you maintain Concentration. They will automatically fail any rolls related to noticing anything other than you.

If you pass from their perception and they are unable to pursue you, the Effect ends. If they can follow you, they must do so for 2 Rounds or the Effect will end. The Effect ends early if the target is Injured or violence occurs nearby.

This does not affect the target’s opinion of you or their mood, and they may take any Actions while affected (including attacking), as long as that action centers on you. Fascinated targets cannot Concentrate.

  • You must retain Concentration to keep up the effect; if your Concentration is interrupted, the effect will end.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Stock Legendary Artifacts

The Bug-out Bag

No hiker would bat an eye if they saw someone wearing this 80 liter backpacking pack in the backcountry. Those who look closer find it's made of a curious mix of modern materials and what appears to be rawhide stitching.

This Artifact holds 5 times what it normally could inside of it.

  • A container of holding cannot be placed inside another created by the same Gift.
  • There is no cost to use this container.

This Artifact's true owner is always aware of the direction and distance to this Artifact.

  • "Cannot be broken" means that damage cannot render the Artifact's Effects unusable, nor can it cease to be used for its primary mundane purpose, if it has one.

The Airship of Solitude

The airship of solitude is an imposing black blimp. While flying through the air, it is regularly struck by lightning, terrifying those below.

This Artifact can be used as a blimp. It is roughly the same size as a blimp but can be collapsed into a phone-sized canvas cube and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

This blimp has full science laboratory, bullet-proof envelope, and ample parachutes. Any roll to pilot this vehicle receives +2 dice.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Crew of One: You alone may stand in for an entire crew if the vehicle would normally be piloted by more than one.
  • Mind of its Own: This vehicle can move and take Actions without you driving it. It has seven dice for all Drive rolls.
  • No Muffler: Any stealth rolls made to hide your vehicle automatically fail, and any rolls made to notice your vehicle automatically succeed.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded. You cannot expand this Object as an attack.

The Coffin

"The Coffin" is a black, alligator-skin briefcase made to look like its namesake. The interior is coated in red, quilted leather. It is quite a bit larger on the inside, appearing to stretch backwards like a dark passageway.

This Artifact holds 5 times what it normally could inside of it. Objects stored inside are weightless. Unless you are storing something commonly found in coffins, this Artifact behaves as its mundane counterpart. This Effect cannot be used unless you are storing something commonly found in coffins.

On a Downtime, you may change this Artifact from one type of container to another. Maximum once per Downtime.

If anyone other than you opens the container, it appears empty. Others can still destroy it to get at the contents.

  • You cannot change the container's type if you are not in possession of it.
  • A container of holding cannot be placed inside another created by the same Gift.
  • There is no cost to use this container.

This Effect activates whenever you are submerged in salt water. It does not require an Action or Exertion. Your target should be intuitively based on the triggering event.

You transform into small for two hours or until you choose to end the Effect. See the Extended System text for stats.

While transformed, you cannot use any equipment (including Artifacts and Consumables), and you cannot use your Active, Targeted, or Trap Powers. However, you can use your Passive Powers. Any equipment you are wearing transforms with you.

Injuries and Wound Level are carried over between forms. However, transforming can never kill you; you merely remain Incapacitated until your Injuries are sufficiently healed.

  • When triggered, the Effect activation resolves immediately after the triggering Action. It is not Reaction speed.
  • Creature Stats
    • Medium (large house cat up to human) Body 3. Brawn 1. Dexterity 3. Fall damage reduced by 1.
All creatures get +3 dice to any non-combat Action that they are naturally adapted for. All creatures Medium and larger may attack by rolling Body, dealing +0 Damage (+1 for “predators”). Gms and Playgroup leaders can apply other bonuses and effects to specific animals.
  • Animals that are quicker than humans (like dogs) have 50 feet of Free Movement. Animals that are very slow (like turtles) have 0 feet of Free Movement.
  • You cannot transform if there is not enough room to do so.
  • The form you take must have the same stats and abilities as a single, extant animal of the relevant size.

Increase your sacrificial Injury's Severity by 1 and spend one minute. Select a Dead target within arm's reach with at least half its skeletal structure remaining. You must make a Trauma roll when you use this Effect. Its Difficulty cannot be reduced by any means. If you fail or Botch, you receive one Mind Damage and a new Trauma.

Your target rises as an Animate being. The raised creature is totally mindless, with no memory of its past life or hint of its old personality. They cannot communicate. They will follow any command you speak.

The creature lasts for eight hours or until it dies again. It is revived at full health. Any Injuries it had in life are not accounted for when determining its penalties or progression towards re-death, though they may affect its ability to perform certain actions at GM's discretion.

Raised creatures have their Abilities set to the same that they were in life. Their Charisma and Intellect are set to 1, but their Dexterity, Brawn and Perception are the same as they had in life. A raised creature cannot use any Effects.

Destroying one of your zombies requires a called shot to the head or heart. All other Injuries zombies suffer result in Battle Scars only, limiting their mobility and effectiveness in other ways.

Your revived targets deal 2 Weapon Damage with their unarmed attacks.

If you do not have a sacrificial Injury when you activate this Effect, take a new Severity-1 Injury.

  • The called shot requires 4 Outcome dealing 4+ Damage or 6 Outcome dealing 2+ Damage.
  • The sacrificial Injury received from activating this Effect cannot be prevented by any means or healed before 1 day has passed. It is shared with all Effects that use sacrifice. This Injury does not requires Stabilization or cause Battle Scars when it becomes Severe.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.
