Miracle Worker

The power to cure diseases and poisons.
Used by Jason Martin, Created by Rendrick.
(You are obviously treating your target for the entire cast time. You must actively and obviously be using up Painkillers.)

The patient must lay down and be sedated and be given painkillers before the Gift takes effect.
The process is quite painfull , as it cleanses the target of the disease he patient may experience a burning in his whole body as if being cauterized.
In that process every bit of the disease/poison leaves the patients body.
If its a disease the place being cauterized is the origin of the disease.
If poison its the entry of the poison , or the blood veins if its a poison that act that way
The pain is strong but its not strong enough to leave scars to the patience mental health.

Exert your Mind and spend 15 minutes to activate. Select a Living target within arm's reach. You cannot target yourself. You must use up Painkillers in order to activate this Effect.

You may cure any any number of diseases or poisons afflicting your target even if you have not diagnosed or fully understood them. You may cure diseases or poisons even if they are not treatable through modern medicine. During treatment, the malady you are treating does not progress or cause additional damage or other effects.

You may only use this Effect once per day.

  • Without some sort of diagnostic Effect, “fully diagnosing” a disease or poison will always require a roll of some sort, frequently Intellect + Medicine, but the specific roll and difficulty is at GM’s discretion.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

Community Targeted Gifts

Angel is a drug gang “enforcer” in Johannesburg, South Africa. To keep his place when he keeps disappearing and asking for things, he’s gotta make himself especially good at his job. “Work mode” slips on like a jacket and Angel sets to business; an intimidator by trade, employing physical and psychological torture.

Activated Rune: Promise

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. Select a number of Living targets equal to your Charisma within 45 feet. Roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6. Affected targets can resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 8.

If you succeed, for the next minute, affected targets will do things they otherwise wouldn’t have done, inspired by Fear. They will not necessarily display their emotions in an obvious way.

Actions they take will be in keeping with their character and the way they tend to deal with strong emotions. They will be unlikely to change their mind about any actions taken or decisions made until after the Effect ends.

Both attacking someone and being attacked will end the Effect.

This Effect is not obvious, and the only sign you are using an Effect is a bit of rune flaring. If someone suspects that an Effect was used, they must roll Perception + Alertness, Difficulty 8 to pick up on your Tell.

  • If you succeed, the target MUST take at least one Action they otherwise would not have. Hey, GM who is reading this, I'm talking to you. You have to enforce this. Remember: Gifts must feel powerful.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

Luci takes out her multi-tool and conducts rudimentary maintenance on an object, imbuing it with her shadow. It takes a lot out of her to use, but the result is usually worth it.

On firearms, her shadow will slink along the barrel and firing mechanism, making it far more efficient and adding its own kick to the fired bullet, making it deadlier while also assisting to manage recoil.

On melee weapons, the shadow slinks along the weapon with either barbs or thorns.

On armor, Luci's shadow hides under the armor and when a weapon or source of damage approaches, it seeps out and attempts to block or deflect the incoming damage.

Take a Severity-1 Injury and spend an hour to activate. Select a non-Alien Device within arm's reach. This Effect cannot be used unless Luci must be in complete darkness and must be completely alone.. You must actively and obviously use Multi-Tool/Swiss Army Knife to activate this Effect. Can be used on Armor.

For the next three months, your target receives 3 extra dice to all actions taken with its intended use. If it is a piece of Armor, it instead receives half that amount as bonus armor rating, rounded up , and any armor penalty it causes is reduced by 1.

Upgraded items have half their normal weight, for the purposes of encumbrance.

After you finish activating this Effect, you cannot move quicker than a walk (max 15 feet per Round) for one minute and suffer a -1 dice penalty for an hour.

You may only use this Effect once per day.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

A Mutated organ produces a strange flammable black gas lazily exuding from the mouth with a quiet hiss is expelled, a deep breath and exhale to spread it followed by a strong bite into it causes it to burst it brightly into flames.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. Select a target within arm's reach which has both fuel and oxygen available (if you are starting a new fire).

You may start a new fire as large as a fire in a residential fireplace at your target. You may create fires the size of a lighter or candle flame without Exerting your Mind. Your fires require fuel and oxygen in order to continue burning.

Lighting a target on fire deals 3 damage per round, starting in the next round after the one in which they caught fire. This damage is reduced by Armor, but the target’s Armor rating will be depleted by any damage dealt, destroying the Armor once it reaches 0.

  • Someone may attempt to extinguish a fire that you started by spending an Action and rolling Dexterity + Athletics, Difficulty 8.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

Upon taking a bite of the meatball, the user (beside it tasting really good) will have to throw it as far as possible as it starts hissing from where the bite is. Upon being thrown, the meatball will send out a blast of Qi (sorta like a golden ring of light) around it first like a wave that is blocked by objects in the water before it quickly explodes next round with another burst of Qi.
Think of like when you drop something in water and a ring of wave form. If the cover is big enough, the ring of Qi that spreads out will show this obvious dead air where it doesn't touch before it explodes.

Meatball infused with explosive Qi, upon taking a bite, the pressure in the meatball is slowly released, once enough as been released, it acts like a trigger as the air rapidly reacts with the Qi exploding meatball bits everywhere and a huge wave of qi goes out hitting everything in a radius

Use up this Meatball and spend an Action to activate. Make a Throw attack at a Location within normal attack range. The area within 20 feet of the chosen Location immediately and obviously becomes imminently dangerous. Roll your for your attack as normal. The target may roll to dodge or defend, as normal for Throw attacks. The attack does not deal Damage, but the Effect does.

If the Outcome is positive, your blast hits everything within 20 feet of the chosen Location with Damage equal to your Outcome + 2. Armor is fully effective against this damage.

  • This consumable is destroyed when used and cannot be used again.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

As he shoots his scalpel gun, the scalpel begins to dig in and performs a sort of surgery, causing the effect he programmed it to do.

Spend an Action to activate. Select a Living target within 20 feet. Roll Intellect + Technology at Difficulty 6. The target may roll Body, -2 dice at Difficulty 7, as a Free Action to resist.

If you succeed, the target receives a new Battle Scar of your choosing, limited by the contested Outcome:

  1. A Minor Battle Scar E.g. an aesthetic-only body modification (a disfigured face, a pig's tail), impacted hand or foot, or vocal changes that complicate communication
  2. A Major Battle Scar E.g. a disabled/removed hand or foot, an inability to speak, an impacted major sense, removal of a minor sense, impacted movement.
  3. A Severe Battle Scar E.g. a disabled/removed arm or leg, deafness, aesthetic changes that are nearly impossible to conceal.
  4. An Extreme Battle Scar E.g. removal/disabling both hands or both legs, blindness, a full-body deformation that leaves the target humanoid but makes it difficult to use clothes, vehicles, and equipment designed for humans.
Refer to the stock Battle Scars on the Character Sheet for specific systems.

This Gift's level is capped at 2 Gifts and cannot be increased further.

  • You may opt to inflict a Battle Scar that is less severe than what your Outcome allows.
  • Remember: A Contractor’s Body rating is reduced by 1 for each Battle Scar after their fourth.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

Stock Targeted Gifts

The Necromancer performs a quick ritual where they spit into the mouth of a recently deceased corpse. The corpse comes back to life (somewhat), and speaks to the Necromancer.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. Select a Dead target within arm's reach. Dead targets must have died within the past week, and you must have their remains in your possession.

The target can communicate in your language for the next ten minutes.

The Necromancer stands over a corpse and makes a series of grandiose lifting gestures. The corpse rises from the ground as though suspended by invisible strings, barks a pained groan, and lands on its feet, now a full-fledged member of the living dead.

The monster hungers for brains and will aggressively pursue and attack anyone it sees, including the Necromancer that created it.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. Select a Dead target within arm's reach with at least half it’s skeletal structure remaining.

Your target rises as an Animate being. The raised creature is totally mindless, with no memory of its past life or hint of its old personality. They cannot communicate. It has no obligation to follow your commands and is often aggressive.

The creature lasts for one hour or until it dies again. It is revived at full health. Any Injuries it had in life are not accounted for when determining its penalties or progression towards re-death, though they may affect its ability to perform certain actions at GM's discretion.

Raised creatures have all their Abilities set to 0. Their Charisma and Intellect are set to 1, but their Dexterity, Brawn and Perception are the same as they had in life. A raised creature cannot use any Effects.

There was a time when battlefield medics would race each other to see who could amputate the most limbs in an hour. Often they could be found standing beside a pile of limbs stacked head-high, wiping their blade on their aprons between patients.

These days amputations are rare, but Dr. Freeman believes they should be more common. "An injury separated from one's body is no injury at all," he says, removing a patient's mangled hand with a few practiced hacks. And it's true! Behold a fully-healed stump where once there was a threatening injury.

Exert your Mind and spend 2 Actions to activate. Select a Living target within arm's reach. This Effect cannot be used unless the chosen Injury is on a limb or extremity. You must actively and obviously use a blade or saw to activate this Effect. Choose a specific Injury on your target that has not yet been treated with this Effect and roll Dexterity + Medicine at Difficulty 6.

If you succeed, the Injury is reduced in Severity by your Outcome. If you reduce its Severity to 0, the Injury is fully healed. Otherwise, it is partially healed and will heal the rest of the way at its natural rate.

This counts as a successful Makeshift Stabilization if the Injury was not already Stabilized; any Battle Scars caused by the Injury will remain.

When you Activate this Effect, roll a single d10. If the result is 5 or lower, your target receives a Minor Battle Scar.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

The Ranger can release a cloud of pheromones which compel all creatures in an area to follow a specific command. When activated, purple cloud-like whips burst from The Ranger's body and flow into the nostrils of all nearby animals. The smell depends on the sort of command: Aggressive commands smell like sweat and blood, Calming commands smell like lavender and cream, social commands smell like spice and dirt, and other commands smell like pine and fog.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. Select a Creature within 20 feet.

For the next day, you may issue specific commands to your target which they will be compelled to follow. All other Creatures which are the same species as your target will also be compelled to follow commands that you issue if they are within 20 feet when the command is given.

Your commands must be relatively simple and within the target’s intellectual grasp. You cannot make them obviously endanger themselves or violate their instinct for self-preservation. The effects of the command will fade after a day has passed.

After you finish activating this Effect, you cannot move quicker than a walk (max 15 feet per Round) for one minute and suffer a -1 dice penalty for an hour.

  • Your commands must be directly communicated to your target in some way, though this does not require a shared language.

The Technician can upgrade a normal, mundane drone into a Buzzbot, an insectoid-looking remote control machine capable of monitoring an area. The Technician can tune in to the Buzzbot's feed at any time by concentrating, and it is recording what it sees always.

Unfortunately, the Buzzbots are true to their name and tend to make a lot of noise. They are easily discovered.

Exert your Mind and spend an Action to activate. Select a target within 10 feet. You must actively and obviously use a remote-control drone to activate this Effect.

You place a ward, which is fixed to a target Object that can be moved and repositioned. You can hear and see through the ward as though you were standing at its location. You may have at most 3 wards running at once.

The ward requires Concentration to monitor, though it will remain active until you deactivate it. The presence of the Ward is obvious to anyone being watched by it, and it can be destroyed by mundane means.

Your Ward records all activity it observes, regardless of whether or not you are actively monitoring it. This recording can be played back and referenced later.

  • Your ward's recording is maintained even if your Ward is destroyed.
