(During Effect activation, you are obviously examining the target object. You must actively and obviously be using An old musty tome.)

Open up a musky tome. Its pages flutter as it turns to a page it did not previously have: a description about the object right in front of you! The book will answer your questions about where the object was made, who by, and how it is used.

Exert your Mind (unless the target is magical) and spend a minute to activate. Select a target Object within arm's reach. You must actively and obviously use An old musty tome to activate this Effect. At the end of your investigation, roll Intellect + Occult at Difficulty 6.

You learn all the following information about your target:

  • You learn the object's intended function and how to use it for its intended purpose, though not necessarily the ability to do so.
The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.

Community Investigate Object Gifts

Embedded within the umbrella’s spokes are micro-cameras and a variety of sensors. These are nearly invisible, blending seamlessly with the structure. They’re capable of capturing a wide array of data, from visual feeds to electromagnetic signatures, without drawing attention.

The core of the SpecterScan’s capabilities lies in its advanced AI, housed within the umbrella’s shaft. This AI is capable of processing vast amounts of data from the umbrella’s sensors and external databases in real time. It uses sophisticated algorithms to analyze objects of interest, determine their history, and infer connections to criminal activities.
Instead of projecting information around the user, the SpecterScan Umbrella transmits its findings directly to a secure device—such as a smartphone or a specialized receiver—carried by the user. This ensures that all data remains confidential and that the user can access it without exposing their activities to bystanders.

Spend a minute. Select a evidence of crimes within arm's reach. At the end of your investigation, roll Intellect + Culture at Difficulty 6.

  • You gather information about where the object was made and when.
  • You receive scene of what caused evidence during the crime telling you who has used this object recently.
  • You learn the object's intended function and how to use it for its intended purpose, though not necessarily the ability to do so.
The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.

This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.

You cannot investigate the same target more than once per day.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Spend a minute. Select a target Object within 25 feet. You must actively and obviously use glasses to activate this Effect. You cannot investigate the same target more than once per hour. At the end of your investigation, roll Perception + Investigation at Difficulty 6.

You learn a single specific piece of information, chosen from the following list, about your target:

  • You receive a flashback in your mind telling you who has used this object recently.
  • You learn the object's intended function and how to use it for its intended purpose, though not necessarily the ability to do so.
The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.

This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.

You cannot investigate the same target more than once per day.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.

Exert your Mind and spend a minute. Select a target Object within arm's reach. You may select a target at any range if you use up An Object used in the creation of the object of the target. Roll a single D10 as a critical failure check. If you roll a 1, the Effect fails, and you Severity-4 exploded gears. You must use up Metallic Gears in order to activate this Effect. You must make a Trauma roll when you use this Effect. Its Difficulty cannot be reduced by any means. At the end of your investigation, roll Intellect + Crafts at Difficulty 6.

You learn all the following information about your target:

  • Determine if this target is Alien in origin or whether it has any Alien energy or outside influences. You receive information about the type of energy, including the name of the relevant Source pool or equivalent. You determine the effect of any active Alien energy detected, and you get an idea as to the sorts of ways that latent Alien energy may be channeled by the target.
  • You receive GPS coordinates, allowing you to discern where this object has recently been.
  • You may learn how much sentimental value an object has and to whom.

After you finish activating this Effect, you cannot move quicker than a walk (max 15 feet per Round) for one minute and suffer a -1 dice penalty for an hour. Exhaustion’s penalty and duration stacks with multiple activations.

  • Exhaustion penalties and duration stack. If you activate this Effect or another Effect with Exhaustion, your penalty will worsen, and the duration is increased by one hour.
  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.

Spend a minute to activate. Select a target Object within arm's reach. This Effect cannot be used unless Only works if the item would fit inside his stash. You must actively and obviously use A green gemstone to activate this Effect. At the end of your investigation, roll Charisma + Occult at Difficulty 6.

  • You receive A blurb of flavor text about the individual and how they tended to use the item telling you who has used this object recently.
  • You learn the object's intended function and how to use it for its intended purpose, though not necessarily the ability to do so.
The quality and specificity of information gained depends on your Outcome.

This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.

  • You can target yourself if you qualify as a valid target by the other requirements.
