This power will injure whoever is in the way, as long as there is a cool stick or wand of some sort in hand.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a target within 50 feet. This Effect cannot be used unless has a cool stick or wand.. Roll Intellect + Occult Difficulty 6. The target may contest by rolling to Dodge or Defend as a Reaction, Difficulty 6.
If the Contested Outcome is positive, the target takes that much Damage plus 4.
You may use this Effect to Defend against any melee, projectile, or firearm Attacks within range or Clash against any Attack targeted at you. Using it to Defend deals no Damage but does not cost Exertion.
This device is a small metal box with a digital display & a single button - when you press the button, a minute countdown begins to tick off, accompanied by a gut churning nausea. When the timer hits zero, the wielder vomits a stream of ghostly, fractal spiders which crawl into a chosen device - the wielder can then issue a single command.
Increase your sacrificial Injury's Severity by 1 and spend 1 minute. Select a Device within 20 feet. Does not work on Alien technology. Roll Intellect + Technology, with the Difficulty set by the GM depending on the security of the system you are hacking. Sapient targets can resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 6.
If you succeed, you may issue a single command to the targeted system. This command must have a specific outcome or be a request for specific login credentials. The command you issue must be within the machine's current capabilities. For example, you cannot order a standard security camera to grow legs and walk around.
You may issue a "self-destruct" command that leaves the hacked system's hardware inoperable, even if that machine had no such functionality previously. Only works on Computers.
When targeting non-computer devices, you may operate switches, buttons, dials, levers, and latches.
Every hack you make leaves behind Fractal Spiders crawl across the screen/device in the system as a personal "calling card" that informs anyone who uses the system that the hack occurred.
Anyone who witnesses you during this Effect's activation will almost certainly be disturbed to see You vomit a stream of fractal spiders onto the device.
If you do not have a sacrificial Injury when you activate this Effect, take a new Severity-1 Injury.
As you look across the room, the glasses lends slightly glow, as they show you into the past, to see who has died, how, and when. When push comes to shove, you can ask to see more; it plays out in front of you like a 1940's cutscene, the killer walking towards the victim, you see there face, the weapon, and sometimes hear the voices.
Spend a minute. Investigate an area with a radius of up to 100 feet At the end of your investigation, roll Intellect + Investigation at Difficulty 6.
You learn the following information about the area:
This Gift's Cost is capped at 2 and cannot be increased further.
You cannot investigate the same area more than once per day.
With the blessing and title of Chitari, Sara Gause Viper has been bestowed with a sliver of Chitari's essence
Being imbued with part of the Goddess of change's essence allows her to shift her own body at will, and reverse any changes should they put too much strain on Sara
It isn't pretty to watch though, entailing abomination combinations of Snakes, Scorpions, dart frogs, spiders, wasps, and other venomous/poisonous fauna. With all the exposed bones, organs, and flesh, it's pretty easy for people to run away in horror, or grab a weapon to kill the assumed monstrosity. better make sure to cover that up in public.
- {Chitari is talking} (Chitari is thinking) /Sara is thinking/ :Narrator is narrating: -
: Sara sat in her Goddess's mindscape, anxiously thinking through what actions she could take next, how she could get a grip on herself, a way to keep on going....... :
{....You've been like that for 3 hours now, Viper}
"I know, it's just....... I have no home, no one to go to within 10.... even 100 miles..... and then I have to watch my back for shapeshifting aliens, keep low so that the police don't lock me up, and complete contracts without..... the forest thing happening again...and- "
: Sara ranted to Chitari about any problem she could think of, venting out enough issues and trauma to keep a therapist busy for years on end :
(She really has gone through a lot, especially with the eye demon...... one of my best followers, and she's breaking down from all this......change...)
: at the thought of the word, Chitari remembered her previous follower, worshipping her and her ideals of cleverness, quick thinking, and the ability to adapt to change.
she gave her most loyal followers the name of Prophet and blessed them with a sliver of her essence. :
{Sara, do you think things are changing too quickly for you to keep up?}
"YES, I.... the moment things seem to have calmed down, some supernatural phenomenon or Contractor does something or vanishes into the Aether, missing for weeks or months, and trying to keep a home for even 4 months isn't possible, I've had to do so much in order to keep myself fed, healthy, and SAFE, and it seems to only get wo-"
{Do you want to be the one changing things instead?}
/Sara's downward spiral of a rant was paused by her Goddess's out of nowhere question. being able to make a change for once sounded amazing, but...../
"is that even possible? No Offense Chitari, but even with your help, It- I...... what can fix me"
{I can't fix you, but I can help you adapt}
Spend an hour to activate. Select a Living target within arm's reach. The target can easily Resist.
You may add one augmentation to your target. Each augmentation counts as a Battle Scar and can have exactly one of the following Effects:
You may cure any Battle Scars you have created with this Effect with a Free Action on your initiative. They are healed over the course of the next hour.
Anyone who witnesses you during this Effect's activation will almost certainly be disturbed to see grotesque venomous creatures like snakes and scorpions swirling around Sara with exposed organs and bones, melting and molding Sara's body.
This Gift's level is capped at 2 Gifts and cannot be increased further.
Your alteration "heals" over the course of the next month, after which it is fully cured.
You may only target yourself.
Vergil is nice to a literal supernatural degree, and through a combination of nearly invisible spores in the air that glow a light blue, and a healthy helping of empathy and emotional intelligence Vergil can ensure that the people he's around are in better mental health than any mental hospital in the world. Though blissfully unaware of its assistance by the mushroom parasite inside him, hey. What you don't know won't kill you... right?
Exert your Mind to activate. Select a Living target within arm's reach. Roll a single D10 as a critical failure check. If you roll a 1, the Effect fails, and you On a critical failure inflict them with Algernon's Flower.. Over the course of one Downtime, your patient must communicate with you and reveal at least one of their Traumas to you, including the details of those Traumas and the circumstances of how they were acquired. After the full treatment time has elapsed, roll Charisma + Influence at Difficulty 6.
If your treatment is successful, you may remove one of the patient's revealed Traumas without incurring any Experience cost.
Your patient is required to assist at least one innocent in the next month in a meaningful way for the next month. If they violate this rule, your treatment is immediately reversed.
You may attempt to treat an unwilling patient. They may choose to resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 7. The nature of their Trauma will still be revealed to you if you treat them successfully, though they may not tell you directly.
Once per day per target, you may choose to use this Effect to stabilize a target's Mind. Treatment takes 30 seconds but will not remove any Traumas. If you are successful, restore 2 Mind damage.
You may choose to use this Effect to temporarily relieve any number of the patient's Traumas (including permanent Traumas which were recorded as Conditions). In this case, Treatment takes 30 seconds and the effect lasts two hours. If the Patient is currently experiencing an episode, Difficulty is increased by 2.
Exert your Mind and spend a minute. Select a Living target within arm's reach. You must use up Wine in order to activate this Effect. Select a Battle Scar on your target to treat.
The treated Battle Scar heals as you finish activating this Effect.
The pyro points a laser pointer towards a target, and a cat-sized-and-shaped fire springs into life, very clearly attracted to the laser. This flame cat can also be shaped from existing fires. While the pointer is active it remains in the shape of a cat, pouncing towards the little red dot. When the laser pointer is not active, the flames return to normal.
Thank you to the original creator of this Gift, Frakcherd https://www.thecontractrpg.com/profile/view/603/
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a target within 20 feet which has both fuel and oxygen available (if you are starting a new fire). You must actively and obviously use a laser pointer to activate this Effect.
You may start or extinguish a fire as large as a fire in a residential fireplace at your target. Extinguishing a fire does not cost Exertion. You may create or extinguish fires the size of a lighter or candle flame without Exerting your Mind. Your fires require fuel and oxygen in order to continue burning.
Lighting a target on fire deals 3 Damage each Round on your turn, starting in the Round after the one in which they caught fire. This Damage is reduced by Armor, but the target’s Armor rating will be shredded by any Damage dealt, destroying material Armor once it reaches 0.
You may extinguish flames as a Reaction. This does not extend to explosives.
You may spend a Free Action on your initiative move a fire as large as a fire in a residential fireplace that is within 20 feet to another location within 20 feet. You may Exert your Mind to draw a line which a fire up to twice as large as a fire in a residential fireplace cannot cross.
No terrestrial animal dares defy the will of the beastmaster. The beastmaster exerts their dominance over an animal by locking eyes and giving a primal cry. The creature immediately becomes docile and eager to please.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. Select a Non-Alien Creature within 20 feet. This Effect cannot be used unless the target is a terrestrial animal.
For the next day, you may issue specific commands to your target which they will be compelled to follow.
Your commands can be complex and multi-layered, though they must still be specific. You cannot make them obviously endanger themselves or violate their instinct for self-preservation. The effects of the command will fade after a day has passed.
The Vampire is able to turn one of their victims into a lesser vampire, a pale shadow of a full creature of the night but useful nonetheless. Having drained and killed their target, the Vampire performs a brief ritualistic bloodletting, wherein they spill their own blood into the target's mouth, forcing them to drink, and bonding them together as child and sire.
Shortly afterwards, the fledgling vampire will rise from death, hungry for blood and eager to serve.
Increase your sacrificial Injury's Severity by 1 and spend one minute. Select a Dead target within arm's reach that has died within the last hour. This Effect cannot be used unless you drained the target's blood while they were still alive.
Your target rises as an Animate being. The raised creature is totally mindless, with no memory of its past life or hint of its old personality. They cannot communicate. They will follow any command you speak.
The creature lasts until it dies again. It is revived at full health. Any Injuries it had in life are not accounted for when determining its penalties or progression towards re-death, though they may affect its ability to perform certain actions at GM's discretion. The raised creature must consume flesh every day or it will die again.
Raised creatures have their Abilities set to the same that they were in life. Their Charisma and Intellect are set to 1, but their Dexterity, Brawn and Perception are the same as they had in life. A raised creature cannot use any Effects.
Your revived targets deal 2 Weapon Damage with their unarmed attacks.
If you do not have a sacrificial Injury when you activate this Effect, take a new Severity-1 Injury.
The Witch gazes at a calm and trusting animal and blinks, revealing eyes that have changed to match the creature's. Her body goes limp and collapses, and the witch proceeds to walk away, now temporarily borrowing the animal's body.
A borrowing Witch is a visitor in the animal's mind and cannot overstay her welcome or force the animal into danger.
Spend an Action or Reaction. Select a Non-Alien Creature target within 20 feet. The target may Resist.
You possess your target and have control over their actions for the next hour. Your original body will be left behind, unconscious. You may perceive through your original body's senses by maintaining Concentration. If your original body is touched, you may roll Perception + Alertness to notice. You may spend an Action to end the possession early.
Stats: Any Actions you take will use the possessed creature’s Brawn, Dexterity, and Perception, but use your own Charisma, Intellect, and Abilities.
Gifts: You do not have access to any Gifts while you are possessing your target.
Death: If the host suffers an Injury, or is destroyed or incapacitated, you are evicted back into your own body. If the possession ends and your original body was killed or destroyed, you will die.
Eviction: You cannot force your host to take Actions which would violate their instinct for self-preservation (which includes engaging in Combat for any purpose other than self-defense or natural hunting); any attempt to do so will sever the connection and send you back into your own body. If you are forced out of the target's body prematurely, you must make a Trauma roll.
Targets with Body ratings higher than 10 require a Charisma + Animals roll resisted by the target’s Body. Kaiju and environment-scale targets are immune.
This Gift cannot have more than 3 Drawbacks, and its Gift Cost is capped at 2.
All it takes is a flick of your hair and a bat of your eyelashes, and you’ve got their attention.
Exert your Mind and spend an Action. A number of Sapient, Living targets within 50 feet who can perceive you through no greater than your Charisma rating are affected. Audiences or mobs with a singular focus count as one target. Roll Charisma + Performance at Difficulty 6. All affected targets may resist by rolling Mind at Difficulty 7.
If you succeed, the targets will keep their full attention focused on you for Contested Outcome in Rounds. They will automatically fail any rolls related to noticing anything other than you.
If you pass from their perception and they are unable to pursue you, the Effect ends. If they can follow you, they must do so for 2 Rounds or the Effect will end. The Effect ends early if the target is Injured or violence occurs nearby.
This does not affect the target’s opinion of you or their mood, and they may take any Actions while affected (including attacking), as long as that action centers on you. Fascinated targets cannot Concentrate.
