Crafted Artifact

Piercing Paper

Created by Bryan Bosch, given to Leon Vanderblight.
An innovative origami spring folded from a single sheet of paper. Intricate designs span across each segment of the spring, metal lining the edges and branching into spiraling patterns. When extended, the spring unfolds into the form of an elegant dueling sword able to pierce through any defense. Signed in the center of the spring / blade are the initials, "bb."

When collapsed, the sword appears to be a spiral, origami spring with metal designs spanning across each segment. The user can expand the blade through extending the spring, which then unfolds into the shape of an elegant sword. Its craft grants it the potency to pierce through any defense.

This Artifact can be used as a thrusting sword. It is roughly the same size as a thrusting sword but can be collapsed into an origami spring and concealed. Collapsing or expanding it costs a Quick Action.

Attack by rolling Dexterity + Melee, Difficulty 6. Successful attacks deal Contested Outcome +2 Weapon Damage.

You also gain the following effects:

  • Shredder: If you successfully hit your target, the value of any Armor they are wearing is reduced by 2. For material armor, this penalty lasts until it is repaired. For intrinsic armor, it lasts until the end of Combat and any relevant wound is healed.

  • If there is not enough free space to expand the object, it cannot be expanded. You cannot expand this Object as an attack.
  • Reminder: additional Weapon Damage granted by this Effect does not stack with any other bonus to Weapon Damage. Instead the largest bonus is used.

This tool can move and bend to the owners will, almost like an extra limb, to pull off some sick tricks, like grabbing things, pulling you up to high places, and around the world.

You gain the following benefits as long as you are wearing this Artifact.

You gain an additional limb that functions as a standard human arm and hand.

Each additional limb you posses can take one Quick Action per Round without incurring a -2 dice penalty to your main Action. Any Battle Scars that affect or remove your additional limb will heal in a single week.

Your extra appendage can stretch to reach an additional 30 feet.

Your appendage has a grip that is hard to shake. While grappling a target, when contesting their physical actions, you may roll your full dice pool, but it only counts as a Quick Action.

Your extra appendage is not connected to your nervous or circulatory systems, and you will not take damage if it is hit by an attack or destroyed.

Your Extra Appendage is incapable of fine object manipulation.

  • You may stretch or retract your limbs once per Round on your Initiative.

Timely Carapiece

Created and held by Krisandra "Kris" Elis.
Visually, the watch is an ornately crafted piece, not dissimilar to a Rolex, made of black metal and engraved with depictions of butterflies. On ordinary use, its accents shine a metallic rose color. However, when engaging in a contract, the watch's secondary palette shifts to a sinister green, and the once pure and pristine butterflies become tattered and mangled.

Watch as the hands of the timepiece etch a weave of webs onto silk paper: a symbol of mutual agreement; and, most importantly, a snare for yet another helpless victim.

You may make an oath with a physically-present, Sapient target. Communicate the oath's terms to the target, including the requirements and penalties for each participant. If all agree to the terms, you must Exert your Mind (unless you win a coin flip) and all participants must accept my business card to seal the deal.

Record the oath as a Condition. If a party breaks the oath, the Condition ends and they suffer the oath's penalty.

When crafting your oath, you may incorporate any of the following penalties:

  • The terms of your oath may involve the transfer of objects. When the terms of the oath are fulfilled or broken, the object is transported directly to the proper participant. The object must be present at the sealing of the deal.
  • A Battle Scar up to Severe (deaf, missing limb)
  • The oath-breaker is physically marked as an oath-breaker, and any investigative effect will reveal the terms of the oath they broke.
  • A particular Trauma and a single Mind Damage
  • The oath-breaker goes unconscious for up to 24 hours
  • An Injury up to Severity-6 (cannot be reduced by any means)

The target cannot be compelled to agree via a direct threat of violence, another Effect, or another oath. If you would like to use clever wording to mislead the target, you must succeed a contested Intellect + (Culture or Influence) roll.

  • All Oaths must have at least two participants.
  • The target must be physically present to enter the oath.
  • The terms and penalties of the oath do not need to be equitable and do not need to affect all parties equally.
  • Your target must be within line of sight, or within range of another sense if more fitting for the Gift's flavor.
